Another drug used by Mazatec Indians is a type of mint or more precisely, perennial labiate, known as “Ska Maria Pastora”, “hojas de Maria”, “hojas de Pastora”, “hierba (yerba) Maria”, or “la Maria”, more commonly known as Sativa divinoruim. The name of this plant, “la Maria”, comes from the Mazatec syncretistic belief in the mint as an incarnation of the Catholic Virgin Mary.

Definition of God = Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent Creator Spirit of the UniverseOriginally posted by gregimotisPascal's wager is only true if their is only one definition of GOD on the table.
Nah, that's just stylistic dogma - A human perspective, not a God perspective.Originally posted by gregimotisIf I take the wager and become a catholic, and Boar Spear takes the wager and becomes born-again; according to both our beliefs, one of us is going straight to hell..
Sounds like them Hindoos are in a heap o' trouble! We got some good missionaries over there tryin' to save 'em, tho.Originally posted by gregimotisOn the other hand, Hindus don't believe in hell at all, although they do believe in 'GOD' - albeit defined a little differently. Pascal's wager fails entirely in that case..
Absolutely! You and God. One on one. Mano a mano! So you're not an atheist!Originally posted by gregimotisI humbly suggest to the reader that spirituality is and always will be the most personal individual experience.

Well, I haven't been on the forum in a week or so because I've been sick as a dog... sixteen hours of sleep a day, cold sweats, and not one decent work out
At least I got a chance to read FX Toole's "Rope Burns" (which Million Dollar Baby is based on) which was amazing- I couldn't put it down and finished it the afternoon I bought it.
Oh well, this is better late than never I guess.
I enjoyed your paper; you've got a lot of good information in there. If I have one criticism it's that your focus is too broad. I think you could better make your point by taking a very detailed, in-depth look at one or two traditions. If you ever follow up on all this research and decide to expand on what you've got here I'd def. like to see it.Originally posted by GarlandAs I hope to point out in this paper, the use of entheogens (drugs used with religious and spiritual intent) is an important and vital topic not only to the study of primitive religions and anthropology, but also to contemporary multidisciplinary studies that could shine some light onto the nature of “spirituality” itself.
