    Hey.

I was wondering if anyone else on the forum was into archery and if so what do they shoot and do you hunt?

I shoot a 75lb pull Bear white tail legend circa late 70's. My wife shoots a early 60's (I believe) model Bear Whitetail legend also. I like the older bows because the newer one seem to small to me.

I started shooting a recurve that my Grandpa had when I was about 12 and when I was 19 I bought my first Bear Whitetail legend. I have managed to kill 2 hogs one 175lbs and one tipping the scales at 250lbs. Suckers are heavy to pull out of the woods. I don't hunt so much anymore what with training, having a wife, and a child on the way, but sometimes I miss the quite at least lol.

    Anybody else?

Not recently... I used to have a 70 Lb longbow (handmade back in the 1950's) It would be great for hunting around here but I haven't practiced for ages! I kinda miss it sometimes but then I go shoot my guns...

Yeah, primitive technology rocks hard dude!

I bought a 65lb bamboo "stickbow" but have been rehabing my tendonitis so I havent shot it much I hope to hunt with it this season. It shoots really fast and has a short draw 28" arrow, got it from a guy here in Texas, check him out. He even makes primitive style arrows!

Hunted 2 seasons ago in the Amistad national wildlife refuge with my old 55lb recurve, tried rattling with a buddy of mine for the first time.

We rattled up 4 does, a 4 point and a nice 8. But alot of breeze in those canyons so our scent was everywhere, So they never got close enough for a shot. we are gonna try more scent control measures this year.

I took off my gloves and baclava so you could see me in this photo, its all brush desert country and since its a public hunting area, no permanent blinds
Amistad has a reputation as a place full of deer, but they are wild and crafty
If I get a spike here this year I am gonna hang it on my wall european style (thats a bleached skull and horns mount only)

There are a lot of pine trees in the area I used to hunt so we would wash our clothes in pinesol that we hunted in. Along with the descenting soa and sprays it worked rather well.

You also have to remember to wear non pourous shoes. Yes there is always going to be an opening at the top for your foot. But you don't want to be pushing your scent out of the sides every time you take a step.

God...where I live there are deer all over the goddamned place. I saw one in my yard about a month ago! (no shit...in the middle of summer)

I've always wondered if I could tackle one and kill it with my hands Mas Oyama style...that would kick ass...

maybe one of these days I'll get drunk enough to try and get gored horribly...
don't worry, I'll videotape it fo' sho.

About a year ago some guy in upstate NY was visiting his daughter when a 4 point crashed into the picture window. Dude fought it for 10 minutes till he could break it's neck.

I think it would whoop your skinny ass dude. LOL or just make fun of your hair.

                  it's staged...but, pretty fucking funny.

this should go in the style vs. style thread.

                  hella fuckin' cool.

I'll just sick my "gulo gulo" in a sack on the bear.

I think I could take this type of bear.
