I think if Bush had an affair peole around him probably would not say anything about it, just like if a democrat around a democrat president had dirt on him they probably mught not say anything. But if newt was cheating and was going after Bill at the time htat is total bull. As fas as clintion being ot busy with the scandal to fight al-quead he put himself in that position by lying in the first place so the fault is entirly his and the reason people were trying so hard to get him out of office was because of the lengthy list of things he did to this country. I think lately GW's bumbling is giving him a better light in historical terms. How sad for the country that we have no leaders anymore.
Seems like the people you expect it the least from ( like preachers and tv envengalist) are sinning the most. And like the sheep they are the members of their churches buy into it when thy cry and repent
Temptation is part of human nature.
Resisting such temptation requires a stronger than average will power. People fall to temptation all the time whether it be toward glutony, greed, extramarital sex etc.
It doesn't matter if they believe in God or believe there is no God, people are still tempted.
What separates people, especially Christians, from others is how they are able to resist that temptation. Even if they are saved and are Christian, they can still fall to it.
I know there are married, Christian men who have stayed loyal and faithful to their wives as long as they were married. They may not be Senators or Preachers, but they live up to their own beliefs.
Just because an important person in the spotlight falls to temptation doesn't mean that all followers do.

Well I do not agree, if an above avrage will power is needed, the majority would fall for it as the average is set by the majority

I would not know why christians would be better at resisting temptation other than the fear to burn in hell

Same applies to Atheist too expept they aren't living up to their believes but to their moral standards ( do onto others as you want others to do onto you)

Good discussions taking place![/QUOTE]
It most definitely does not mean that, noone implied that, what I did imply that the christians tend to forgive the preacher or evangelical senator where they would not forgive others
"Hey he's a christian, if he asks for forgiveness, it must be true, t's not like he lied to us before" oops, they did lie before ( so why trust them now?)
And while these men of Power were sinning, they were still telling others not to in and how bad it is to sin
to me not the original sin is the bad thing but the hypocrisy
Yep, that was pretty much my whole point! They will forgive thier own, almost no matter what the sin, but let a Clinton do the exact same thing or less, and they go full blast on him.
Well, that doesn't make sense. I don't hear any Republicans defending Newt, and they didn't defend Foley when that whole thing came out, in fact they wanted him out of there. I remember Democrats rallying 'round their boy Barney Frank to defend him when he was caught in some, shall we say, compromising activities years ago. Is it natural to stick with your own guys and not give that benefit of the doubt to your rivals? Of course it is, but I don't see that happening here. You just really, really want it to be the case.
Let's not forget, Clinton wasn't impeached for screwing a fat chick or being unfaithful to his wife, he was impeached for purjury and obstruction of justice, the same charges Libby was just convicted of (related to a 'crime' that no one has ever been charged with, no law relating to the main issue ever having been broken).
Once again, this is all just another excuse for partisan posturing.
Imagine if a democrat politician had been caught in motel rooms with a gay prostitute doing speed, and then LIED about it!
How much air time would Rush Limbaugh and Matt Drudge and John Ziegler devote to it?
Now, how much time did they spend on The rev. Haggart One minute?
See again 'Barney Frank,' first of all. Next, you compare in your theoretical situation "a democrat politician" and a religious leader who was not a politician. You are not comparing like with like. Finally, that story was all over the news when it broke. If you missed it, that's on you.
I am not kidding here! These soccer moms are not mad one bit at the Iraq war! Halliburton does not bother them at all! The Rev. Haggart does not bother them at all! But Clinton makes them want to kill someone!
Have you considered for a moment that some of these 'soccer moms' support the war but did not support Clinton when he was president and absolutely do not support marital infidelity? Why is that so hard to understand? Once again you seem to find it unfathomable that people don't see everything through the prism of your personal political views...

Al franken called norm colmen a butt boy for the administration, and Hillary has made racist comments before but no attack from the media I think both parties are guilty of hyprocracy I just wish we all could not engauge in that type of back and forth attacks and focus on the important things like the war the economy, illegial immigration, the outsourcing of american jobs ect.
both side have not put the best interast of the country ahead of politics.
As far as marriage infidelity? I don't condone it, nor would I ever engage in it. However, have you ever looked at Hillary? Geez, how could you blame the guy? .
How can you not blame the guy? I don't care what (or for) Hippo-ly looks like; Bubba entered into a marriage contract. A lot of people see his chronic inabiltiy to abide by the terms of that contract as indicative of his character. All of which is beside the point because he wasn't impeached for marital infidelity.
