My roommate is a good cook and he says you determine how well done a steak is by comparing it to the skin inbetween your thumb and pointer finger. Squeeze the little bit of flesh between your thumb and pointer finger. The farther in you squeeze, the tougher it's going to be (rare, medium rare, medium, etc). So squeeze as deep as you can before you touch the bones in your hands, that's how a well done steak should feel. Hope that makes sense

LOL! no i was in a restaurant yesterday and ordered a well done steak which came out seeping blood and bright pink in the middle but black on the outside.Originally posted by Michael Wright View PostMate, is this a Zen analogy, or are you just at a REAL loose end????
My friends thought this was normal but my thought was that it had been cooked at too high a heat and had burnt on the outside and not cooked on the inside.
anyway i sent it back but everyone thoguht i was wrong.
wanted to see what other people thought! hahahah maybe i should have explained that, it does look a bit mental doesnt it

im a complete pussy when it comes to steak being rare, though i have no problem with sushi, figure that out.Originally posted by GarlandWhy the **** would anyone order a steak well done?
