That sounds interesting the illegal matches. I bet the MT dudes do pretty well if it is unarmed. You could also always go to Brazil to watch no rules matches. They are less common than the ones with rules but they still go on. The Brazil comps. are what got me into mma and the arts that make it up. I am suprised that no mma fighter has looked further into the SE Asian kickboxing style like Yaw Yawn, Lethwei, and Viet Va Dao. Kickboxing arts work well for striking in mma competetions and the ones I mentioned above are among the best kickboxing arts. They also all borrow from MT.There is a bareknuckle tournament in Taiwan that I heard is interesting.

I think tommoy looks like old Muay Thai with some silat additions...
Anyway there has been fights between silat practitioners and Muay Thai fighters on both sides of the border for a long time so the nothern malaysians must have adapted their silat to counter their thai opponents....

- - If you hit him hard, where you want to, and get the effect you want, whatever you're doing, you're doing it right.
- - I make it a point to stick around with people smarter than myself. If I learn just 10% of all they know in their fields of expertise I end up becoming smarter than most people.
I don't care what martial arts you do if I have a gun you're fucked.

I have done Shootfighting. It is not all the great, its striking is o.k groundfighting is lacking, and no overall strategy. If you look at shootfighting you will notice that most of its champions are bjj stylists, Inoue, that dude that canned Sato, on and on. Of course for enouph money the bjj stylists will list shootfighting as there second style, like inoue, to save shootfighting some grace

I listed the ones according to my opinion of which are the best and besides there's not enough room to add more then I did.
Ninjitsu one of the most effective!!!!!!!!! HA HA HA,you're kidding right ?
Perhaps back in the days when samurais still existed but now days, there is no way it would be the most effective. You pull a sword,I pull a gun and guess who would be the one that dies.Obviously the ninja guy.
Multiple opponents!!!!!!! now that really makes me laugh.Ya maybe you could kill several opponents on your own if you have guns or grenades on you but without a weapon and using ninjitsu,no offense, but you'd be screwed.
Also that depends exactly how many people you mean when you say multiple opponents. If you mean 2 or 3 at one time then perhaps, but if you're talking about like 4 to 100 guys you're definitely in trouble.
I often hear about martial artists saying they train to be able to take on both single and multiple opponents and I've heard some even say they know from experience that it's possible, well until I see it with my own eyes I won't believe it.It's always easier to claim things when you haven't actually done it yourself but until you've gone through it and can prove it,it means nothing. It is true that many instructors train their students to take on multiple opponents but many of these instructors themselves have never actually fought more then one person on their own in real life so their word means exactly shit.
What some martial artists have to realize is there is a difference between what they seen in martial arts movies or learn in their dojo against multiple attackers and what really works on the street.Even Bruce Lee couldn't take on multiple opponents,he was an actor as simple as that. How he trained in martial arts and how he showed it in his movies are completely different.

I never had trained with him full time. I just checked out his gym a few times, looked at his instructional vids and met other people who trained with him. His stuff seemed very lackluster and I found out that his record was mostly fake matches that he claimed were real. His training came from a bunch of pro-wrestling dudes.
