      hell yea,

Change the word jarhead in the comercial(see me that kid who dreams of serving his country, that jarhead) to solider and I'll get a good laugh especially if he's a 17 year old jar in the film,I think his story is all our stories minus the combat in my case, very wierd to be in uniform playing with the m-60 and you can't even smoke a cigarete LOL. Going to see it today. It's part of what I call the lost boy phenomenon, there's 1 of 5 places, a I don't have to listen to anybody /I'll do what I want young man without a positive male role model in his life is going to end up dead ,jail, the U.S. Army, the Marine Corps. bTW lI lost the web belt to my bdu's where can I get another one.Kinda pissed about losing it.God bless all the people in the armed forces and keep them safe.

I'm goin to see it. I heard a reviewer talkin about it on NPR and they seemed to think it is more than decent. I like Marine flicks(its really using the Corps and the war as symbols) but I still like seeing the imagery on film ... brings back memories.

If it's pretty authentic ... I'm cool. The problem is most non vets or current warriors assume ALL the crazy characters and characterizations are hokey ... Damn if that's so!

I met people in the Corps unlike anyone I've met in the following decade or so! Marines(and some soldiers and sailors) are not your average civilian at the library. They're some of the few people I feel sane around!

          best movie I've ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no b.s., most realisitc depiction of military life, I don't know how people who were never in the military are going to relate to it though.

            Saw it

            Saw the movie.

Its not your typical war movie that focuses on the action. Instead if focuses on the mind of someone who goes through the military. You can't help but feel for the guy when he's pumped and ready to kick butt at times, then at other times where he's going through despair.

I like the beginning scene where he's going through bootcamp. Also the scene where the reporters are interviewing them. Thought it was a really good movie.

I thought it was a good look into the mind of a soldier. I brought a few ex-military friends to see it as well. They said it was on the money.

I just bought the dvd saturday, big mistake, but I was at Best Buy and I wanted to watch it..

It just really seems like Swofford hated the Corps, hated the military in general, and now writes anti-military articles in Details magazine...

Swofford did a good job bitching about the Marine Corps though... I definitely remember all the sucky aspects of service life, however, I would never badmouth the professionalism of the men who served.

havent seen it yet but heard some good things, sounds interesting that they chose to focus on the more mental aspects. But I saw "Operation Dreamland" a documentary by inbedded journalists with the 82cnd airborne in Fallujah 2004
                  sobering movie.

Good movie. But I prefer the original rifle creed from Major General William Rupertus. Beautiful...

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...

My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit...

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my rifle clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life...

So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!
