I dont wish to belittle the work the US is doing to help rebuild Iraq but the improvement in the economy is mainly due to the lifting of sanctions put in place by the US (and the UN). The lack of medicine and general facitlities caused by the sanctions is what led to the high infant mortality rates and poverty.
