Im just wondering what a good weight is to be lifting, i dont want a body like arnold swazeneggar, just normal like bruce lee etc.
    im 17.

So everyone could you post how much you lift (kilograms if possible ), your age and comments.

If memory serves me correct Bruce Lee was more into unlocking one's own potential through practice, variation, and so forth. Instead of just building strength, try speed drills also. First make sure your blocks are correct posture and give you the best flexibility and strength pure each attempt. That way you can minimize on energy usage. Once you have that done try doing them as fast and as well structured as you can without losing flexibility. I would say 100 punches in many diffy positions, 100 blocks for each position you can try. Not only do you increase speed, but also raw power doing this. It's like this, if you had an opponent and you could get 2 well places hits on his body, even at pressure points, than he can then you are more likely to win a fight. If you hit fast enough, hard enough, and accurate enough you can overload his senses and turn his own body against him. These are just some of the things I have learned in my research in marial arts, but try focusing on blocks and attacks with the fist and hand more than kicks, a lot more, that way if you do end up in a fight for your life, you can stop your opponents attacks while successfully hitting your opponent.
Oh yea, don't forget the importance of breathing out during attacks and breathing in during blocks, aka a breathing rythem that fits you and your body. Your goal should be to get 100 well made blocks and/or attacks within 10 seconds. Not impossible, but extremely difficult, but if you can it will build both strength, speed, flexibility, and overall fighting power and if memory serves me correct, that's what Bruce Lee focused on.

No no I think that is impossible. You try blocking or punching ten times in 1 sec. Thats impossible.

Try it shadow killer. It might not be, but then none of us know our "full" potential until we try to set what seems like impossible goals. One may or may not reach it, but it is worth the try just to push one's self to their ends and beyond. We don't know what the mind is fully capable of nor the body, so it may be much more possible than anyone thinks, but then even reaching for what seems impossible sometimes to push ourselves constantly to our limits is worth the challenge as long as you do it safely and smartly.

Bruce Lee from my memory focused on making a ton of money on movies and making sure everyone knew that what they were doing was wrong.

Grifter, you are strong for your size. A 1RM 150 lb bench at a body weight of 115lbs is really good. I would guess that the average MA practicioner should be able to bench his own body weight and squat 1.5x bodyweight.

I too am working on improving my general strength. I weigh 170 and currently max ~ 235. My all time best 1RM was 280 lbs at a body weight of 180. I'm trying to stay slim and eventually do a 300 lb 1RM.

so i see, most of you use different amount of weight with each exercise. Is this the way to go? at the moment its just me and my dumbells, so at the moment its same wieght all around.

i understand breathing out on an attack, but what does breathing in do in association with blocking? ive been breathing out on blocking.

Possibly so you can breathe out on a counter after the block?

I think my weight trainning has gone down hill . I used to be able to do 40 pound curls (standing up not resting elbow) and now only 20 (reps of 60) . I am sure I can do 30 but to lazy to look for a 5lb weight. I'm 5"6 130-140 . I just started again yesterday. It has been a year.

do you mean you took a year out from weight training? heh im not surprised if you have lost a lot of ability if thats the case. just build it back up again, it might be disheartening but smeg it its the truth and theres no quick fix for getting back on form.

christ i get cranky if i havent done any training on any given day then again im almost entirely bodyweight exercises and to me it makes more sense to do quite a few of them every day rather than 2-3 intense sessions a week.

                      good luck

I have been training hard in two mas and gained more muscle than weight training. I stopped simple cause I didn't need to do it. Now, I'm thinking about getting back into it but afraid I will wear myself out for my ma training. I have done some weight training but not everyday like I used too. I train everyday in ma. I often hit the bags if I have too much energy left after class/es . I know what ya mean I cannot stand a day without a ma work out. Ugh if I didn't have a tournament I would work out my upper body. My hamstrings are sore .

yeah use different weights...cuz different positions mean you have a different lift, ie. benchpresses compared to squats. Same limbs, different sets of muscles.
