      I use to go jogging alot for 45mins, also done some High Intense Interval Training, but nowadays i just dont have enough time to do that. At the moment i do skipping/jump rope, its really good, just as good as jogging if not better, plus its fun! . See link >> http://www.defend.net/deluxeforums/s...752#post109752

        running = 'king of exercises'
        While running may be great for cardiovascular endurance, it can really take its toll on your joints. Replacing some of your runs with other lower impact cardio exercises will help reduce this toll. Plus, it's hard to run if you don't have a decent place to do so. I run at my university's track but its boring to run in circles so I switch-up every now and then. Sometimes I run outside, on a treadmill and do some bike/eliptical/stairmaster work. It not only helps fight boredom but keeps your body from getting used to your routine, which could cause you to plateau your weight loss.

          Also want to add that if you are overweight, weightlifting beats cardio any day of the week. This has been the case in my experience and also in research studies. Of course, you really want to be doing some combination of both.

            As far as joints go, isn't an eliptical a good option?

              Was a bruce lee quote, he windsprinted (?) though, alternating between jogging and running, which helps I suppose.

              but running is the best thing to get your heart pumping.

              Swimming is good too, and develops flexibility. After a few lengths you can feel your heart beating faster and some muscles starting to burn.

                Elipticals seem to offer great cardio exercise with minimal impact on your joints. I like these machines way better than treadmills. I haven't heard any complaints about them.

                      I will add one too, if you are so inclined skateboarding is a great tool for weight loss and its god damn fun.

                      Most fun sport I have ever participated in and its a great workout. Also builds a lot of tolerance to pain and beats your shins till they are strong enough to take a lot of punishment. Its a damn hard piece of wood and the metal trunks arent too much better.

                      Just a thought but for the last 9 or so years it has been a great love of mine and its great for cardio.

                        thanks. I like to skateboard too...haven't broken anything yet, luckily. I'll make sure to fit some more of that in. (Helps for balance too!).
