  • ways of increasing speed and power of punches

ya i really want to increase my punching power and increase my speed of my punches

does anyone no any good ways of increasing it.

i do a few that i believe work, like bench pressing, doing a lot of pushups, and puching my ground punching bag.

i know theres many other ways, i just wanted to here if any of u had any better ideas.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
and another thing i want to know if my strength is weak average or what ever

    tell me what u think

    lets see i weigh 135 i bench 245 im only 5'6.

once or twice a week i do at least 250 pushups or more if i feel strong at the time, i would do it more, but it takes everything out of me, i hate doing them cuz there so d**n painful, i do the first 60 like nothin, then from there on out it is a hell of pain. Iv'e only reached 300 pushups once, and it hurt so bad it was unbelievable, afterwards i cant pick up my arms or anything, i have so much sweat on me that it looks like i just got out of the shower.

Well i was wondering isnt there a way to dull that pain that i feel while doing pushups, because i have a goal to reach 1000 pushups in one day, and no matter what people say i will get it.I just want to make the power of my punches umbearable, i want to be able to knock people out in one punch.

i get crap at school everyday because i look small, so they dont believe that i bench 245 and almost everyone says its like impossible to do more than 100 pushups, and dont believe me, so im like whatever, but there has been a few witness's that have seen me do over 200 pushups many times. My weight training teacher knows thats i bench 245 cuz he sees me 3 times a week at school working doing sets of 5 with 210.

My arms arent even that big there only 14 in a half inches wide and my forearms are 13 in a half inches wide.

and is it bad for me to do so many pushups, but even if it is im still gonna do them.

Jesus my arms are only like 13 inch's and i almost break my back when lifting 100 pounds, I have no clue how you manage what you've said... Incredible. My arms used to be 17 inch's but since i lost like over a quater of my body weight they've gotten smaller, as for your initial question,
I beleive the best way to improve your punch is to practice it. Simply just that. At the moment i do 100 punch's a day on each arm, this helps my endurance and speed, i then punch hard wood 50 times with each arm, every day (excluding days when my fist are healing) From what ive heard and read it is an ancient way of becoming faster and stronger. But be carefull with whatever you decide to do as i feel i have fracture my arms countless times due to not giving up.

the punch bag will improve your power,

to improve your speed (it will also help with accuracy), focus mitts. Also shadow boxing is supposed to help your speed, although personally i dont do dont do it.

And, your strength is good, esp. for your weight.

        Ok

Hey, I'm new to this forum so I decided to start out with this post. I'm a blue belt in tae kwon do, but I took the following advise from one of the black belts in my school (3rd degree) who is looked up to by me.

Take a piece of paper and tie it to a string and hang it on your ceiling. Practice punching this and after a while practice punching it beating the force of the wind. Basically you want to punch the paper before the wind of the power hits it. Kind of confused? If so I'll write this out in a easier to read guide. This doesnt build strength. But will build alot of speed in your punch.

I use 4lb. boxing gloves when I work the mitts and do heavy bag work. It works for me.

              Another really easy tip

You can always shadow punch (box) or punch the speed bag starting with a left hand back fist, right hand punch and vice versa. Yeah the paper punch works alright. It's a tip my friend taught me, but I havent really gotten it down yet. I seem to rip the paper off the string lol. Let me know how it goes for you buddy.
