  • Am i suitable to be a decent fighter

Well once a month i do a little over 300 pushups in less then 15 min. at one time, every other day i try to increase my one hand pushups by one or two reps, right now im barely doing 60 pushups on each hand. My goal is to do 100 pushups on each hand.Im almost there but its taking me a while.

I also work on Bench press every other day, my goal is to get to 400. Ya its kinda outrageous, especially when i only weigh 130lbs, and im still pretty far away from benching 400, cuz right now i only bench 275.

I believe the only reason i even bench that much is because im always trying to keep my strength even with my friend who is a lot bigger than me, he weighs 190lbs and benches 290.

I dont only bench i do other things to i jog around my block once a day, i stretch a lot, me and my friend always hit each other so that hardens our muscles. Even know i dont like being hit by him because that dude hits hard.I curl 125, i work my shoulders alot, i do lots of things.

Well im thinking of joining Muay Thai Kickboxing, because i want to be trained to be a fighter, even know i havent actually been in a fight since like the 7th grade. My arms arent that big, most people dont think i bench over 200, but im full of suprises. I can hit pretty quick and hard, but i think i need a lot of training if i want to become a muay thai fighter and i probably need to be a lot stronger than i am now.

Well i was wondering how i would stand against fighters my own size, after i had enough training to with stand a match.

Im looking for someone that would train me to be a great fighter.Im 17 and i live in Modesto California.

You've got all this arm endurance, so in terms of punching endurance, you're fine. And if you can bench that much, you've got a crapload of arm strength as well.

But you're NOTHING if you don't have leg and abdominal strength. Can you do 1-legged squats??? Can you squat about twice as much as you bench?? Also remember about lower back strength too. You want your legs and abs to be strong, or you'll never have strong kicks or punches. The midsection is the most important part.

Also, you and your friend shouldn't hit each other!!! you can be doing kidney damage if you're hitting each other in the midsections and don't knwo what your doing! Also, DO NOT hit each other in the shoulders. The shoulders are full of nerves and a very sensitive. Don't think you need to condition that part in terms of hitting it hard.

Do you wear blue tights with your red undies over the top of them?

I really don't believe this post for an instant.

First of all why the hell would i lie about my own strength.

And if you believe it then thats your problem.

My strength wasnt always like this you know.

I first started actually working out in the 8th grade barely doing 55 pushups every day, then one time i ask my P.E teacher How come he looked so buff, He said all i did was do pushups and Bench press everyday. And He said its good to always try and do a little more pushups then you did the day before. He also said that goes for the bench press to once your able to do something 9 to 10 times raise the weight 5 or 10 lbs.

        I took his advice.

He also said make sure your dont leave your lower body out.

I work my lower body to but i dont think i can squat twice as much as i bench, i dont ever work with heavy weight with my legs.

Anyways he also told me just to do pushups dont do bench until you get into highschool. So i took his advice and i actually didnt make it to 100 pushups until my sophmore year, and i started benching my sophmore year as well, i started at 90 lbs on incline and 110 flat bench, and i weighed about barely 105lbs and i was about 5'3. I worked out my whole body that whole school year, mainly bench, i got my max to 155. By the end of the year i was able to do 150 pushups.

Then my junior year came i didnt do any bench press all summer but i did a few pushups here and there. My bench max started at 145 and i was able to do about 170 pushups. About in the middle of my junior year i got a bench press with 300lbs in my house. So i worked out a little harder then last year, and by the end of the year i got my max to 185, and i was able to do almost 200 pushups.

Then my senior year came, i had set a goal for my self to be able to bench 250, and do more then 250 pushups. That was my goal, i tryed my best with increaseing by 2 pushups every other day, even know somedays i was being a slacker. But i finally made it to 250 pushups, but i was only benching 230, and that made me mad, because there was only 2 months left of school, so i went to my friends house and worked out every possible muscle for bench (shoulders, triceps, lats, a whole lot of pushups, my legs, every thing.) Then be the start of the last month of school i finally reached 300 pushups, i was so happy that i decided to rest for a few days because my muscles were so soar, by after them few days were over i felt a big increase in my bench it was about 10-15 lbs, it was what i needed for the next 3 weeks left of school i kept increase rapidly on bench until i got to about 260, then the school year ended.

My max did increase more afterwards. But im having trouble increasing now.

Hate to say it bud, he's got a good point. You suffer from a disease that has completely permeated the american population. It's called pride. Ask yourself. Did you write this thread prepared to hear someone say, "You'd get your butt kicked."?

                  Or ...

Did you write this thread in order that someone would pat you on the back for taking such good care of yourself and tell you that not only would you fare well against someone your own size, but maybe even have a chance against George Foreman?

Hikage - mate, for once we agree. The lad is looking for praise, and certainly can't take the reality check dosed out by moi.

Anyway, you punch his hand when he throws a blow at you....then he won't be able t do any press ups!

                      superbobby:

If you want to try Muay Thai you just have to go to a gym and train for a while to see if it suits you. You may like it, or you may not but, you'll find that raw strength has very little to do with fighting ability.

Also, I strongly recommend you DO NOT go into a muay thai gym and start talking about how much you can bench. Unless you wanted the 'special' lesson - that is.

I told the world how weak i was, but i how strong i want to be is way more then u could imagine.

ANd i am as strong as i say i am, i swear on the bible. But to me i always thought all fighters were a whole lot stronger then me. But the way that thai dude reacted i guess i was wrong.

I posted how much i can bench not not trying to brag, just to see if other trainers and fighters would possibly train me or if i was at all even suitable to even be a fighter
