Any idea's? I absolutely hate doing pushups for some reason...O_o maybe its because my coach made me do god knows how many to where my upperforearms were locked up...but yea...are there any substitutes that I could use?

substitute bodyweight excercises or weight lifting excercises?
and what exactly about pushups do you not like?
because mose chest excercises will pretty much follow the same range of motion.

Slightly raise your head and look forward...I know what you mean...I can get bored just thinkin of regular push-ups,therfore,I save em for last during my routines...I do alot of dips, upside down p/u against a smooth door, and p/u w/feet elevated on a chair...there are dozens of different ways to do a p/u...try to get creative within your routine I guess...I don't know about gooey and all but after a few sets of each I get winded and a little blurry.

Thanks for bringing that up...and please excuse me for not being specific on that in the first place...one can get messed up if never doing this.Anyways,I assumed you've been training for quite a bit so I just threw it out there. If you've been doin alot of push-ups to the point where your arms get so tight and you can't go further then perhaps you are able to do this unless you're a bit heavy set.If you do attempt this make sure you have a friend or someone nearby...it's not as dangerous as it seems here but...1.just imagine standing on your hands. 2.go down slowly as far as you desire till your head touches ground. 3.push-up in a burst (try not to let your arms lock completely). 4.Repeat. It's hard to get spotted on this so it's wise not to do to many at first.Getting up & down will probably be a task for the beginner.I start off with 1 leg on door, hands infront of me,then lightly kick up other foot up on door, then scoot myself inward towards door with hands till I'm at the degree I feel comfortable with (usually about 80-85).the more parallel your body is alligned to the door the more weight you push. Also, you don't want to be to low in degrees as to where your body seems to be pushing against the door as opposed to sliding...reason for door is just for balance...it's is extremely difficult for me to do handstand push-ups by keeping my own balance (w/o leaning on something glossy).Be sure to keep your body straight as you would when doin regular p/u.Now,as for getting down...man,you're on your own...Usually I'll tumble down from that position or slightly bounce off door till i'm on handstand then use my hands to turn (be careful not to twist wrists) away from door then drop to my feet.I know all this seems tedious for a workout or just plain silly at first thought...but if you're open/unbiased and up for a challenge you just may benefit and even like it after a few weeks.when you develop and are able to do several (at least 5) reps. in 2 or 3 sets you can elevate yourself by placing your hands on bricks, crates, chairs, etc. (must be sturdy)...the elevation will allow you to go further down so your head doesn't touch the ground...this will give you full range of motion. It is much harder.Who knows, maybe you wont need to lean on anything after a while.I've seen people do it that way. They don't look like body builders but are extremely strong.I've been doin this exercise off and on since I saw my cousin do it when I was just 12 (no personal training on it).Recently (couple of months),I just got back to working out again and incorporated it to my workouts...if it were not good for you then I'd probably have a messed up back or something messed up.However,These type exercises (p/u,dips,anything without weights)don't ever mess with my back or joints.Only when I escalate to a heavier weight with dumbells, etc. do I get minor (temporary) lower backaches.Anyway,I know I said a bunch...but I just wanna be as clear as can be...

One arm pushups or handstand pushups would be much better strength exercises than regular pushups and since you won't be able to do as many reps you won't get as bored. If you can't do them at first (most people can't) there are progressions you can use to work up to them.

If you have access to weights you can do different types of presses or maybe high rep dumbell or kettlebell jerks.

if he hates pushups because they make his vision blur its probably because of the pressure caused by blood going to the head at that angle...
i doubt doing 1 arm pushups or handstand pushups would be any better, in fact those would put even more strain.
if you ask me, i dont think theres a whole lot of chest excercises you can do with bodyweight that dont strain that way.
might wanna stick to weights in that case.
any of the presses (bench, incline, maybe decline) would work great as you aren't in the same position as pushups so it wont put as much stress.

That's a good point. When you say "It just makes me feel all wierd and guey inside...like my vision starts to blur when I look at the ground....", is that for real? That doesn't sound like a normal reaction to pushups, have you been looked at by a doctor?

You may be breathing incorrectly while you are doing push ups. How are you you currently breathing when you do them? You should breathe in as you lower yourself, and breathe out as you push upwards.
