  • Messed up shoulders

Well, my shoulders are pretty messed up. I'd say I pulled a muscle or some tissue or something. It was an accumulation of years of bad posture, plus doing too much bench weight without properly warming up. It's not that bad, and only hurts in certain positions, but I was wondering what the course of action is to do? It's not bad enough to go to a doctor, but bad enough to irritate my training. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Peace

See a doctor before it progresses to something serious. If its been bothering you for a while you shouldve asked your doctor during a routine visit. I wouldnt take any other advice regarding injuries online then that.

Yeah, I know you're right. I hate doctors, I'm only human...

        Easy check -

Grab a squat rack with your elbow straight -

        And thumb down.

Slooooooowly lower your body to stretch the bicep.

        If it hurts like a M*F -

You have the same injury I had -

        A stretched biceps tendon.

My shoulders and delts were taking up the slack -

And the first doctor I went to referred me for rotator cuff surgery...

Very little can be done -

But after resting it completely for about a month -

I felt a searing pain in my shoulder as the tendon slipped back into the "groove" it slides in.

        No more pain -

        More rest -

Then very easy workouts for another few months...

        All healed now.

        (Side story)

Was talking about this with a friend of mine at the Gym in Huntington Beach -

BSing about warm ups, etc -

When this HOT little number walks over and starts talking to us -

Asking about warming up her shoulders -

I said "As I get older - I need to really warm up good..."

She said "How old are you?"

        I replied "39 in October..."

She said "WOW you look much younger than that - And in such great shape!!"

And while I was standing there feeling good about myself she added:

"MUCH better than my dad - He's 38..."

My buddy was laughing his a$$ off -

And I asked her never talk to me again...

        Thanks, Danny

Can you mess up your shoulders with calisthetics? (Push/pull ups?)

Of course you can mess yourself up with that. Its working out isnt it? Proper form and stretching will help prevent injury but sometimes its the person, could have bad joints. Any physical activity can cause injury, getting up in the morning you can hurt yourself.

Lol usually pushups ARE my warmups, but look at me now . I definately think it was just a pulled shoulder muslce, DEFINATELY not rotator cuff. I just took one day off while using perfect posture and it feels much better. I'll just take it easy for a few weeks, but you guys know how hard that is.....Thanks
