  • Dynamic Strength

This is what i believe is the best way to weight train, without weights. Dynamic Strength is a strength bulding system based on resistance exercises in movement and the practicioners own body provides the resistance. This is based opon the ideas of Harry Wong and in a book entitled Dynamic Strength.

I jus started last night, and i was wondering if anyone else trains in this manner.

Sounds like plyometrics.I use that type of training along with traditional strength training(weights).

How are the plyometrics working for you? I'm about to change my workout to include them.

Another weekly "best ever" system. Ramus, will you ever learn?

Anyway, he's talking isometrics, not plyometrics. They are radically different.

Isometrics are the exercises were you, for example, push your hands together hard and hold the resistance. They're vastly over rated as a means of gaining strenght and, at best, should only occupy a tiny amount of ancillary training.

Plymoetrics involve explosive movements, like hand clap press ups. Over use of these can cause joint problems because of the impact.

fullcircle-I think they have helped improve my explosiveness in straight punching and in forward and lateral footwork.Only been using them for about 6 weeks.

Matt Furey calls his version of calisthenics "combat conditioning". Calisthenics are, basically, exercises without equipment, such as press ups, free standing squats etc etc.
