If you can't handle that much meat/day, get a mixed protein powder that has whey, casein and egg albumin. This will give a slower release of amino acids into your bloodstream. Whey and casein both come from milk. The whey component is fast absorbing and the casein is slow absorbing. It's best to take whey before and after a workout and a mixed protein powder during the day and before bed along with protein from your daily meals.

In my experience it's okay to mix whey protein with water as long as it's part of a pre or post workout meal.

What exactly is your experience? I know for a fact that the body processes water faster than milk......for something like whey protein that is already very soluable with the human body and absorbs fast it is not good with water. Like I said before you are wasting most of it because you are pissing it away. Whereas with milk which is slower processing it will stay in your system longer and you get to absorb much more of it.

      Just my 2 cents.

What do you do if you're alergic to milk?

Whey protein is usually tolerable for people that are lactose intolerant. In that case I would take it with water, but stand over the sink cuz drinking it with water increases the gag factor. Instead of that though I would try food protein like chicken, lean meat, fish, etc....That's much better for you anyway because it teaches you how to grow with an all natural diet.

Milk allergies are typically the result of lactose intolerance. So you can get that lactose free milk. If that doesn't work then you could get some of the slow release protein powder (its more expensive) and mix that with water. Or use milk and dump lactaid in there. Or I suppose you can mix juice with the protein powder. Juice has slightly more sugar than milk, but not substantially (and you can water it down to equal it out). Or you can just eat protein bars. That is a more expensive route, but it will do the trick.

If you can't find a palatable/digestable solution then eat more real protein--e.g. meat. More tuna, salmon, chicken, beef, eggs, etc.

I can't eat enough protein in one day just because I would have to be a glutton to do. I weight about 200 pounds and I am a growin' boy, so I have a whey protein shake after workouts. Adds a modest 35 grams of protein a day. I just have trouble eating large amounts of food at one sitting and you can only eat so many meals a day lol. An 8 oz steak does me in.

You need to eat at least 200g of protein a day to grow.

There are plenty of good sources of lean protein. I had quite a bit of success losing weight (about 30 punds so far, about 5 to go) over the course of about 4 -5 months. 1) I cut out soda and other sugary drinks. 2) cut out sugary snacks as much as I could stand (substitue fruits). 3) Cut out beef from my diet while increasing fish. 4) stopped missing breakfast. I also walk about 2 miles a day and get a really good workout about twice a week. I am not an expert, but that worked for me.

I have trouble eating enough.... damned 3 workouts a day and teenage metabolism! I feel like a glutton eating 5 times a day. Sometimes I just have to eat simple sugars because I can't eat enough complex stuff. lol.

There is a difference. Hard work is more like endurance training whereas what I am speaking of is resistance training. Endurance training is lighter weight with alot of reps whereas resistance training is alot of weight with lower reps.

wouldn't it depend on what you consider a workout?

                                he he

Yeah you said it. Chicken or some lean mean steak.

Also you could try Flax seed. It contains 25-30 grams of protein. Plus it helps prevent Cancers.

Yeah Robert G I thought you would want to know that Sugar will react with Insulin when the sugar level goes to high. Turning it into glycogen.
