For some reason people think the shoot is a movement that cannot be overcome or is very hard to overcome, but like any other movement - it can be overcome. You just have to stick to what you know works and not chuck in the 'MMA rules' responces just because everyone else is doing them ....

I don't understand some of you people. If you dislike the CMA's so much, why do you bother hanging around the CMA message board? why bother saying, "Oh, you do CMA that's retarded for..." and, "It will never function in combat because..."

You're like the damned missionaries (Mormons and Jehova's Witnesses) that come to my house. You're not going to change these peoples views, stop trying, and stop degrading other people's beliefs.

My gods you people are stupid at times.

First of all its a "shot". The rules for nouns and verbs still apply. Second, there is no short answer to something that involves a number of skills relative to your opponent. The first thing you need to become aware of is what a real shot is. If your experience is limited to kenny karate who pracitces takedowns for 30 minutes every other wednesday, or bobby brazil who really just wants to jump into guard anyway, you are not going to get a feel for how hard, fast, and uncomfortable a real shot can be. Then you can start working on your defense, which will include sprawling, but more importantly reading the opponent's attempts to set you up before the shot.

              In short; its complicated.

                Jubaji,

You amuse me with your assumptions .... the guys i have trained with could never be skilled could they ...... but hey think what you like, this isnt a thread about 'my training partner is better than yours'.

Also, your right it is complicated, a number of factors determine your resonce and there are Numerous possible responces. Depndant on timing, distancing, speed, agility etc etc.

I simply highlighted an effective idea. Dropping the point of the elbow into someones spine as you sprawl their shot is very dangerous, hence the reason it is banned from MMA competition. If it didnt work they wouldnt worry about hitting the spine and it would be legal.

It is complicated, yes, hows about you enlighten us all with your methods?

                Chris

You're right, I don't know you or your training partners. So I have only your words to go on. It is by those words that I infer that you are not dealing with real high quality shots.

If You Were Asking Me, I Do Not Believe In The Quality Of The Shot, I Only Believe Thatthey Are Either Sucessful Or Unsecessfull When It Comes Down To It. This Obviuosly Depends On Wether Or Not The Defense Was Sucessful Or Not.. But, Do Not Get Me Wrong, There Are Proper Ways To Exicute A Technique And Improper Ways Also.

Chris: do yourself a favour and ignore Jubaji, he isn't worth talking to and NEVER contributes anything positive. He just likes making cracks about people and acting like an ass.
