    I respect your views

But you can't claim Kung Fu is the best martial art in the world

A martial art doesn't define itself it is the martial artist

I guess I should chime in here. Not in defense of an ignorant argument from the first post, but in defense of REAL Chinese Martial Arts. First my background, I have studied Ninjutsu 2 years, Judo 2 years, Kali 8 years, Shotokan Karate 5 years, and now most recently Baji Kungfu 2 and a half years.
First of all I have never believed in Chi from the start of my training years ago till now, but just in two short years with a private kung fu teacher that is Chinese and American only for the last 8 years, I have started to change my mind on the subject. This man can do feats that I have only seen in movies, he can use joint locks with a quickness and precision that I have never seen in any master, teacher of the martial arts. His understanding of how to apply what seems to be a punch in a traditional form to use it eight different ways is absolutely mind blowing. After 40 plus years in Chinese martial arts Baji and Chen taji I would say that he is the best Martial Artist I have ever known, and that means Self Defense or Traditional Martial Arts. As for me beating a man twice my size using the style after three, four, five, or even ten years of training that I don't know, but I am certain that with training every day for the next 20 plus years it is an almost unstoppable martial art. My 2 cents worth.

    Sifu Alex who...???

Temple Kung Fu?? In the traditional kung fu world we talk about lineages, what family and how it came to be as a respect to the elders.... this guy sounds like the infinite temple of shaolin china propaganda tourist pay package masters that are springing up.

good actors and good martial artists are 2 different things. Unless you test it or have years of experience you wont know.

By watching him, by seeing the way he trained, seeing his technique,

i have eyes, and it is not hard to notice when a guy moves so natural and smoothly that you know he has been doing it for a long time

This is a growing trend from China's wushu practitioners calling themselves kung fu masters to bag out other arts when their fighters beat a couple of people in a san shou fight and think they are immortal. I have seen their fights and they are a joke in comparison to that of any other boxing arts and even the restricted kung fu fights(note I'm differentiating kung fu and wushu)

Considering the fact that I know Chinese, I know what you are talking about.

But I was refering to kung fu as in Chinese kung fu.

the classes there were an hour and a half in length, the focus was self defense oriented and not for sport, it also had some philosophy in it, and the school also teached shoot wrestling also,

it was more of a modern kung fu than the old traditional styles you would think of, but the defense forms also included animals such as the tiger, crane, snake...etc..

it was actully really well rounded and would not mind going back another time to put more work into it
    Thanks for your reply.

By philosophy I didn't mean a derivative of Socrates/Descartes/Confucious but rather a principle that the school follows be it based around linear attacks and defenses, circular movements, punch and kick combos, locking techniques etc etc. Inadvertantly though I think you answered this when you mentioned the animal forms.

If it (Your style of Kung Fu) works for you then that's all that matters.
