Seriously, though...you guys are into combatives, yes? Do you put on the armor helmets, pads, all that stuff and go at it?
Honestly we have only worn safety equipment when we did Kendo.
We have varying levels of speed. The longer and more you train the faster you get. It's also about building control.
We did have a Bob dummy who used to go ape shit on but something happened to it (long story). I like to wail on the bag for the time being.
You'd be surprised the conditioning you build up over time from constant drills. Not to mention skill.
When we do use speed there are always bruises and sometimes bleeding. Had a few things break on some people here and there. It's a learning process, we train to avoid getting hit as much as possible, but when your learning you get hit a lot too. It's conditioning and incentive all in one.
I'd love one of those suits though I'd be great to wail on each other out in the yard. But F it'd be hot in that thing.
Yeah, in that humid environment, it might be a tad uncomfortable.
Yeck!

Well, I don't train like you guys do. I mostly do boxing these days, heavy bag, crazy ball, that kind of stuff.
That is great cardio conditioning. It'll get you in shape bro'.

I guess I don't understand a lot of the CMA stuff I see posted.
Skill over time. Apply that rule to any thing you already understand about CMA's, or properly done ones.
The concept is totally based on a complete understanding of every movement you use to fight. You start slow so that you can learn proper foot work, body positioning, and where the strike should be powered from in each variation of each movement.
Think of it this way, when you ride a bike down a hill you use the breaks to slow yourself down to a comfortable speed, you slow down to gain more control. Same thing with KF.
Yeah you can haul off and swing like a madman but it will look sloppy and have no strenght. If you learn to strike repeatedly while standing still slowly and add speed as you feel comfortable, you also gain a shitload of control.
I've seen grapplers do it. They work through stuff slow on the mat to understand it, then they apply it at a faster speed.

Do you ever do random attacks (Like in the Pink Panther, ha!) I would figure with a lot of people living there and training, you would be able to set up some interesting games and scenarios? (Like George Leanord, the Aikido guy that runs those "samurai" camps)

Those weak punches and shitty kicks you were throwing in the ring against Andy i am sure where just hiding your true Kung-Fu master skills.
Actually, he let Anthony win. No, the referee was biased. My bad, he wore the wrong clothes. I forgot, it was the ring's fault. Wait, wait, Anthony was on steroids. And Rudy's knees were bad too.
