Only carry a lockback for extreme cases such as four on one and if I have time after someone pulls an edged weapon on me, otherwise empty hand is lethal enough.
i just picked up one of those spyderco waved enduras. man, what a nice blade! the wave is extremely effective and gives u a nice fully deployed blade every time. not only that but the enduras are razor sharp. i sliced up somebodys work shirt that was hanging on a coat hanger in the break room at work yesterday and the blade didnt even skip once on the material. clean slices every single time. these blades are wicked, especially at around 50-60 bucks a pop.
btw, anyone know if you can use the wave feature as a bottle opener?
i finally got the chance to buy a spyderco delica wave, and damn this ones even more impress than its big brother the endura. this has to be one of the most functional, practical pocket knives ive ever seen, and its only like 50 bucks so its affordable for most people. i cant say how pleased i am with the spydercos.
I carried a Spyderco as my EDC for awhile. I didn't like that if I had anything on my hands at all, water ,grease (from food or car work), sweat, anything that little spyder hole made it difficult to open.
I prefer inertia opening knives or thumb studs. While it may not be easy to open any knives under the above conditions it's still easire without the spyder hole IMHO.
The waves I don't like cause they have a tendancy to open in your pocket when you don't want them too.

yeah, the only problem i have with spyderco is the spyderhole. even still, i like my spydercos alot and i havent really had any problems with the wave yet.
just plain ugly, thats just my opinion though. im not a fan of wharncliffe blades even though they are pretty functional. if you trust it and feel most comfortable with it then thats all that matters.
the only benchmade i have is a mini griptillian and its pretty damn cool.

The Griptillian is a great knife. The only beef I have is the Axis locking mechanism.
I just don't trust that little slide button. The Gravitator is a liner lock but it also has a tiny bearing in the liner which makes it extremely hard to fold up on your hand, especially since the liners are titanium.
Still the Grip is a pretty sturdy knife itself. Good choice on the Benchmade.
