Anyways the crime rate in london is 5 times higher than that in new york city.

Mabey if its in your basement and you shoot in their direction in the dark, you kill them and one of the bullets puncture's the natural gas connection. Do you really think you can just 'shoot all the intruders dead'? You watch too many movies. Having a gun doesn't mean you're safe. There are so many 'what if's. What if; he has a gun too, he has his pointed at you, you can't reach yours in time, you don't have it with you, he has a better one with more bullets / bigger clip / faster action, he can aim better, he shoots you before you shoot him....etc etc

How many kids do you see taking crack? Because of cocaine being banned it's firstly expensive, and secondly hard to get hold of incase you know who to talk to (in UK anyway). Yes you can buy crack and get away with it but so what? That means nothing. You can't just snort crack in the middle of a town and get away with it. Kids can't afford the high prices for it. It WORKS. Drugs like crack are in the most part kept away from innocent people who otherwise may get addicted or do something stupid when high.

Not if it means more people die because of it. If you had British gun control the bad guys would NOT have guns in the first place. In gun controlled countries, your average 'bad guy' does NOT have a gun. Nor do 95%+ of shop robbers. Fact is, in your average British lifetime you will never see a real gun being used in a threatening situation.

Furthermore, cigarettes kill far more than firearms crime (or all crime combined nationally) yet have no up side to them (they don't feed you, protect you, ect.) so why not control them! (and i'm a smoker)!

What crap. The upside is the nicotine high, but that's irrelevant. Smokers kill THEMSELVES, and only if they smoke heavily for a very long time. Drinking kills other people, why not ban that? Hell, fatty foods ultimately kill you. Ban them too by your logic, right? Have you seen anyone rob a bank with a packet of cigarettes?

Of course this was ignored by you lot who proceeded to just lick each other's asses even more so. It's an old-ish study but feel free to find newer statistics, I think you'll find that, still, there are more criminal homicides or unneccessary suicides than there are self-defense homicides. And until there are more self defense kills that would have resulted in the death of the gun owner or his family than criminal ones, you might aswell give up arguing.

Why don't you just admit what you really think. You can't logically argue that being able to own guns makes people safer. You just like to have them and they make you feel tough and nationalistic.
