Over the years I have gone up against 3 wing chun fighters, all attacked nearly the same way fast, furious, and aggressive. All of them ended up walking/running into something nasty that ended it for them.

The law of tyranny:
1. Any power that can be abused will be abused
2. Abuse always expands to fill the limits of resistance to it.
3. If people don't resist the abuses of others, they will have no one to resist the abuses of themselves, and tyranny will prevail.

I wonder what WC people would say about this guy. Pardon my harshness, but it seem that he is quite a beginner (from the way he throw punches and does the routines).
WC peoples say it isn't WC at least I've never seen that kind of Wing Chun.
1) There is no arm smashing in WC, at least in none of the lineages I know. He also doesn't use WC footwork during the smashing.
2) There are 3 empty hand forms.... the form the guy is showing is none of those.... for those who don't believe me take a book or look on the web. Much of what he shows in the form goes against WC principles: there are no circular Tan Sau (this is a heresy).
It seems he shows a really bad mix of the first and second forms.
CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT FORM THIS IS?
3) In WC your main target is the head.... it seems to me this "fighter", never punches to the head. Inimaginable in WC.
During training-light sparing the chest is often hit, because this allows to strike full power and continuous striking, never during hard sparing-fighting.
Where are the straight punches.
When he is at close range he should use elbows? he doesn't....
Does he kick to bridge when he is out of range? he never throws a kick.....
Does he try to lock his opponents feet to prevent moving backward? No again....
He doesn't use any WC stance and puts his head forward.
Bad, really bad.... this is a disgrace to CMAs, I cannot believe this guy ever did WC.
Maybe learned by books or watching movies.

Thai, I got one! (too bad it's only one)
Originally posted by Thai BriPerhaps some of you Wing Chun heroes can find us a clip of a real Wing Chum exponent kicking some ass?
No? Well thats a surprise..........
The UK Wing Chun Kung Fu Association was founded in 1985 by Master James Sinclair. It has produced many of the leading exponents of the Art.
In about a couple of months, I plan on signing up for some mma matches within the midwest area. I'll try to post some fight clips and pics, and you guys can offer me some advice.

Originally posted by ddriveIn my opinion,
The wing Chun guy was utilizing the techniques that he learned to the best of his ability, but the problem wasn't his tactics, but his fitness. The other member who praticed karate was obviously in great shape, and that was the deciding factor in the match.
Technique is one thing, but your body has to be in proper shape to really utilize your tools to the fullest. That's why I incorporate boxing, muay thai, shaolin kicks, and weight lifting with my wing chun to enhance my tools and body mechanics.

that clip was just awful, I would normally move all such things to one of my martial arts folders on my hd but that one went straight to the trash.
I'm not ungrateful for the link being posted but if thats WC then one has to bite the .50 calibre bullet and say that maybe ThaiBri might actually have a point re WC

I repeat for the newcomers: this isn't Wing Chun.
The form shown at the start of the clip is not found in WC, and the "fighter" doesn't respect WC principles. By the way in WC you don't charge in a straight line at your opponent if you want to bridge but come at an angle to avoid direct hits (frontal kicks,.....).
The clown shown in the clip is probably a (poor) southern shaolin practitioner pretending he practices WC as the arm smashing exercise suggests.

I know this is probably a dead thread, but in the event anyone is still following up on this one I figure I'll chime in myself.
1) No way in HELL was what that guy was doing legitimate Wing Chun.
2) He has no footwork that resembled anything close to Wing Chun.
3) The form that he was doing was either made up, or this guy was a begginner. And a poor one at that.

Well I am a little late here.
What the Bloody shit are you posting in name of Wing Chun KungFu ??
he looks more like a funny novice boxer coming from vietnam or thailand. he is nowhere near any form of wingchun kungfu
Why cant you Karate guys respect KungFu and accept defeat before the skills involved in it instead of showing some idiotic novice stuff claiming it as KungFu.
Any form of Karate Sucks thats final.
KungFu can beat hellout of any karate fighter DONT FORGET KARATE IS KUNGFU'S HANDICAP CHILD

Originally posted by ddriveI agree with you that they do attack fast and furious, and that's because they want to get it over with as quickly as possible. Did you fight/spar with wc guys that do a straight blast with their eyes closed? You gotta let me know how those fights went down.
The first time it was my Karate school went and visited a WC school (this was back in the late 70’s) We did a class with them, then we sparred. We had approx 12 students who made the trip white belt to black. We won every match, we did not loose a single match.
Next was a guy in a bare knuckled NHB competition (no rules except time limit of 5 minutes, and no eye gouging/biting) He had damn quick hands but he could not stop my leg kicks or my clinches and knees. The WC guy tried to work his forearm stuff, but he couldn't make it work. He did punch fast and furious without causing much damage and I put my rights cross right through his punches and ended the fight about a minute and half into it.
Next was a guy who we had mutual friends and he challenged me one night when I bad mouthed KF without knowing he was a WC practitioner, so we fought (with 16 oz. Boxing gloves) I stopped him with push kicks and leg kicks before I finally nailed him with a right cross that put him down.
I have also messed around with another guy in a friendly sparring match but I accidentally head butted him and split his eyebrow wide open.

Do you have any footage of any real KF or WC/WT/VT/VC paractitioner beating a real karateka?
I'm not talking about the san shou/sanda team beating the second team ( so not the top team) of Daido juku karateka but a real KF team of practitioner
Old school Okinawa karate is KF simplyfied back to the basics combined with the local MA Ti AKA Uchina-di
Based on what do you think that Karate is the handicaped child of KF?
Knowing more techniques doesn't make you superior at all, no matter how many ways a polefolter or highjumper knows, one way will still be best and all the others a waste of time
Somehow people here seem to think Karate sucks majorly...well it does, but no less than most other arts especially KF
I see that you are very new here and therefore do not know that Darr isn't promoting Karate nor any other MA, he is into SD
He was actually just trying to get under the skin of Sherwinc, which we all love to do so much
