i personally dont think double legs are that great for real self defense situations. they may be great in competition and in mma, but not for the street. u are getting way too close and personal with someone trying to hurt u. i know a guy from highschool who is in prison now cause he got into a fight with some guy at a party and stabbed him in the back 4 times when the guy tried to double leg him. the leg reaps, trips and foot sweeps at least can be done while standing completely upright with less comitment and effort and can allow u to escape of needed. if u mess up a double leg attempt u are screwed. however u can chain together several foot sweep and leg reap techniques in a row in order to keep attacking even if u miss the 1st one.

I think you are mistaking a real double for some drunk guy at a party running across the room and trying to tackle you.

I'm starting to believe that you have never wrestled at all.

Unlike oh so many around here, I don't believe I've ever claimed to be an expert at anything.
You, however, have taken yet another opportunity to demonstrate that you are an expert in being a whiny little bitch.
Shouldn't you be off cutting yourself or getting drunk and begging people not to hurt you?

thanks seppuku, i'll take your advice. Lu, a double leg train, instead of shooting in, wrapping the back of the legs and putting your head to the side and driving left while bringing your left leg in and circling on your knees like a normal double leg. A train just wraps the back of the legs and you plant your forehead just under there sternum and drive straight through. Does a tackle go up and through your opponent or through and down like a double leg train?

All right. Just for you I made it a point to take down a guy who outweighed me by about 100 pounds just today with a double. Another time with a high crotch. I don't usually make it a habit to go live with folks who have 100lbs on me, but look how far I'm willing to go to please the people!

Mr. Jubaji, I am curious as to your background in martial arts and what day job you have. I have noticed that you do a lot of posts in which you come off as an expert, however, your personal profile is full of nonsense. Addionally, you stated that just today you "took down a guy".
Just curious, because I myself would find it hard to leave my work right now and just find someone to "take down".
Unless you are a high school wrestling coach, or sensei of a large, thriving dojo (I am not sure how many dojos are actually open during the day), I find your posts to be very doubtful. Please take the time to explain to all of us what is really going on here!
Are you truly an expert martial artist with an advanced and extensive knowlege of the finer points of 100's of styles, or a fat teenager in front of a PC who plays a lot of xbox/playstation, who has actually never been in a dojo?
I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but your profile makes me really wonder.
