If you tried it standing up you would either backpedal away from the pressure or fall backwards if you leaned too far.
also realize that Fa jin is a way of striking, its basically charley horsing a nerve. The strikes are extremely fast (think the inch punch) you will get hit 3-4 times a second at minimum all to points like the neck, throat and face. Strikes to the arm MAY make a weapon go flying or activate the nerve, either way they bumped your attack out of the way on the way to your vitals.
