I have read the post and yes he did write off wing chun. It was only when he discovered it does actually work if trained right and under the right school, that he started to appreciate it.

And my comment was pretty generic - it wasn't just labelled to TomYum (you know who you are...).

When and where did I write off wingchun? You're putting words in my mouth (c'mon I can only keep so much water in there )

I'm pretty open minded about styles, because I know its the fighter and not the style per se that counts.

Can I just point out that I never disputed that Inosanto was well known. Within JKD I am sure he was one of the most well known

If you posted a 'who here has heard of Ip Chun' on the Chinese Arts forum, I doubt you would even get one person saying they hadn't heard of him!

Secondly not many people are going to admit they have never heard of someone - it makes them look stupid!!

Thirdly the debate was about influences, which I have since conceded

Fourthly I could easily log on under various email accounts and vote against the poll 100 times. And get my friends etc to do the same

I just think that people on here have to be a bit careful to support their instructor yes, but at the same time not dismiss all the other amazing contributions that many martial artists out there have made
