Its not an issue of education rather cost. Being a good athlete can not only get college paid for but yes it may also get you into a better college. College in general is very competitive the higher ranked the college the more the competition, so anything that can work to your advatage to get in, get into a higher ranked school and get it paid for I am all for it as long as the people do the work once they get there. I wrestled at a D3 school and it was a hard decision, I got D2 offers (no D1 or AA). But I felt that if I went to a D2 or better It would sacrifice my education, in that I wanted to go to graduate school not just graduate.

I had a math teacher in HS who was like that he was good in wrestling got a scholarship but hated it with a passion. he barely would discuss it except to mention that he hated it (I think he was forced into wreslting). But Kodakan, really to just say it sucks as a sport or for SD is really harsh. Again, the point of teh thread was "should I wrestle" You don't have to flame, list pros and cons to help this guy make a decision.

i just said some of that stuff to make jabs at jubaji.
I dont think that pro and sport wrestling are the same.
i already gave my advice twice to the original topic of the thread.
1. if you want to wrestle. do it. being in 11th grade and just starting will be hard. you are going to really have to want it. However, hopefully your martial arts experience will help you as far as balance and movement. Mine did.
2. for self defense my opinion is that martial arts are better. but you have already been there.

so in response to your allegations......how did you come up with a name for your fake martial art? and did you buy your belt at a garage sale in your trailer park or in a catalog you found dumpster diving?

To everyone else: i am sorry for my misconduct in defending myself, I was not "crying about being attacked" I was just under the impression that most martial artists had little respect for others in general and honor due to their lifestyle. Jubaji and xerox have proved me wrong in this point.
