Ruas Vale Tudo is a style. Vale Tudo is also a form of competition. There is no contradiction.

If you read my post I never said there was a contradiction. Ruas is teaching what he feels is good for Vale Tudo, his version of free fighting, that's fine no problem. But there is no one style for vale tudo it can be a single style or combo. It would be like somone saying I teach PRIDE or I teach UFC doesn't make much sense huh. When BJJ learns VT they learn from the perspective of BJJ for VT. The problem is that peopel may not advertise Ruas VT just VT which can mean anything to the uninformed....don't be so sensitive...damn. It's a post....sharing of thoughts ....discourse.....get it...calm down

Its more than just his own club, it is his own system (albeit a combination of systems).

All right, I do get your point.
When I train BJJ, when we roll it is BJJ style.
Then if we take our gi off, it is a no-Gi BJJ training and many of the BJJ restrictions disapear like leg locks.
However, I do not refer to vale tudo as a style (e.g Karate, TKD, JUDO) but as a fighting format that I do practice from time to time.
If Ruas want to name his fighting style as Ruas Vale Tudo, so be it!

Vale Tudo is not a style within BJJ... I've been saying this all along. Vale Tudo is a tournament held in Brasil and Japan. The fact that certain BJJ gyms teach striking, doesn't mean you're doing Vale Tudo... It only means your gym teaches striking as part of the BJJ discipline. You DON'T train Vale Tudo, you fight in Vale Tudo... People started using the term "Vale Tudo" to define their MMA training, but it's not really appropriate.
