I dont know, only my little brother is interested in my fighting, my parents arent in the least. I have to nearly beg for them to come watch a tourney. They think its brutal or dumb, pointless. I think its the same as any other sport, I mean, more of a sport to be honest. Just cause there isnt a ball does that make it not a sport? Cuz I got two big balls right here mom and dad!

You need to take those issues to a trained professional, kid.

This attitude is what gives us as martial artists a bad name.

It must be the mind of a underminded youth

                        Indeed.

Two of the traits of a martial artist are maturity and self-discipline, or so I would like to think.

It's also a sign of a kid who's never been in a real fight.

The kid just wants to compete in tournaments. He sees it as a sport...competition. That's not immature...particularly for his age.

How about not being all high and mighty? Were you so much smarter at that age?

It wasn't his competing in tournaments that bothered me. It was his comment about having big balls.

I have nothing against competing in martial arts. I've done it.

But competition requires maturity and respect and discipline, not just big balls.

Please read before you criticize. Thank you.

Very well said. In my youth, I would never openly speak nonsense to public people outside of my youth circle. These kids come on these forums with immature sense of martial arts. AND in my youth, I NEVER had a immature sense in terms of it. I was immature on other subjects, but MA was different.
Then he relates balls in a out-cry to mom and dad. Like that was raising a rebel yell. Quite frankly, I have no problem with anyone on a forum goofing a little. But most of these youngsters do not check things before they write.
If you were to look at it, martial art tournies can seem to be brutal if people are not used to it. Also, I thought someone could not compete unless given the parenal ok.

"given the parenal ok"?! That sounds painful, whatever it is.
