I really wouldnt be bothered about anything like that, like u people say id be too busy trying to improve my technique -probly trying to work out why my lock is all wrong etc.

As for going against a HIV person, as bodhisattva says the likelyhood of getting infected is extremely low, Its kinda gross but - the pressure from your blood being forced out would stop any infected blood from getting in. There is still a chance though.

If by openly gay, you mean was a pig, and made everything into a sexual reference, no I would not.

If you mean someone who was gay but a good wrestler, yay, that would be ok. It's more about how they act, than what they are. I wouldn't wrestle with someone who was HIV+, but not because they're gay, but because it's an infectious disease and it's pretty silly for them to risk others like that.

Not every gay guy is the same, the ones that are more obvious, less sexually mature, etc, no I would not roll with them. Then again, I'm an immature heterosexual, and would not roll with a woman. Plus, I mean, it would be pretty easy.

If you don't want some "big gay boy on your back" why do you keep describing him specifically as a "big" gay "boy"? I mean, are you stating a preference, kind of, here? Are you saying you prefer a smaller gay boy? Or, is it rather, you keep saying "big gay boy" because that's all you can think about during the day and so that's what comes out when you have to express it? Or is it that you want to be on HIS back, not the other way around, and you are firm on that particular issue?
To be honest, the more you say it, the more it sounds kind of like you would REALLY like having some BIG gay boy on your BACK. You just keep saying it.

You're absolutely right, zanflad. I was really poking you in the ribs about it, I figured you might come back with something pretty funny. I'm sorry if I made you feel like a target.

i did have a chat with this gay bloke once, he used to do jujutsu but he got asked to leave the school, not just because he was gay, but because he was getting horny in the class.

which is fair enough in my book

Hey what about the heterosexual men....pleeeeeeeeeezzzzzzz don't leave use out

Regarding the other issues well as long as someone is respectful who cares. Like others have said if someone is trying to "touch" you or is making sexual or suggestive comments the point is it distracts from the training whether heterosexual or homosexual. If you are not gay don't let it bother you. However, if you don't want a "big gay guy" maybe you are running from your feelings, would a smaller gay guy be more acceptable (JJ)

Regarding the HIV: I do personally think that it is reckless and that other class memebers should not be exposed. A slight chance is still a chancewhere others should not be exposed just my opinion.

If I had a problem with rolling with heterosexual men, I wouldn't be doing BJJ at all, now, would I???

Given that my school is made up of my instructor, me, and 30 heterosexual men HAHAHAHA!

Maybe you are thinking of Tank Abbott who came out of the closet a couple years back.
es is true. HBO Documentary "Smashing Machine" Kerr is unhappily married to some psychotic harpy that basicly led him to put a needle into his veins (to drown out incessent bickering and nagging)

...man, I doubt a gay guy would come into a gym and train to try and cop a feel or catch a look. I would have absolutely no problem training with a gay guy. They're just as chill as anyone else, man.
I'd feel a lot more uncomfortable training with some fat sweaty dude than an undiscript gay guy...now if the gay guy was fat and sweaty...hell no.

Man...HIV, on the other hand...is so unbelievable goddamned scary. You have no idea. Trust me on this. I would NOT train with an HIV infected person, and I would NOT train with somebody with any sort of rash or infection of the skin either (tinea gladiatorum, herpes, etc etc), until the risk of infection wen't away.
Bloodshed, though accidental, occurs too frequently and way too uncontrolled to make me want and take the risk to myself on...no matter how cool the person was.
Gay guys aren't the only ones who get HIV...that is the worst misconception anyone can ever EVER make. Anyone can get it from sleeping with somebody who has it, from needle drugs, from getting exposed to infected blood...man, these days you have to be CAREFUL.

I won't rag on gay guys for being gay, man, that's alright, but if they're stupid, and they act a fool, however, I won't NOT hate them because they're gay.
I dislike most people equally. Lesbians more than gay guys. Why you have to know that, I'm not sure...but damn them. Seriously, how am I supposed to compete with a chick for another chick...they suck.

**By the way, man, I'm trying to find a way to get up to Mushin and train now...so...I'll probably see you guys pretty soon, I'm not gonnna be a flake, so if you could, tell Brandon that I got his e-mail too late for Will's seminar, but I would like to come up and train, and I'll call him this weekend.
                            Thanks Bro, Peace

I agree wholeheartedly, and that is why ANY blood shed in class MUST be treated as if it came from someone with HIV. People take blood WAAAAY not seriously enough in class. It's kind of accepted, but rarely dealt with correctly. (Not at my karate school, where we have an OH&S woman who is OBSESSED with safety!)

Okay, can i rub two pennies together here? Any person, regardless of sexual orientation that goes into a BJJ establishment is generally there to learn and train and be a fighter. Generally speaking, flamboiantly open homosexual men, those who are femenistic in their attitudes and manners, are not going to go into a sweaty, bonebreaking sport like BJJ. IF per chance, someone comes in for eyecandy or looking for a date or cheap thrills, is going to be sorted out pretty quick. The wheat from the chaff, gay or streight or otherwise; those that are there to train, are there to train; those that are there for kicks, wont be around long. Any person with HIV, gay or streight, has a moral and ethical responsibility to either abstain from anything that could give others the disease, or give the other people the freedom to chose for themselves weather they want to take the risk. The thing is, many people who have HIV may not even know, out of those that do some are responsible enough to do so, many are not, so everyone must be treated as if they have it. Okay. thats my 2cents... Im out of pennies....
