Cael Sanderson did the same move in a college match. its a freestyle move.
its actually something you can train, but you'd probably only hit it if youre much better than the guy anyways.....

no cause there are way smarter ways of defeating the single leg attempt, ones that dont put your neck and back in the immediate danger of being snapped in two.Originally posted by Mike BrewerHow am I wrong for saying that he has more balls than you? At least in this instance...doesn't he?

still angry because you think a guy posting on an internet forum was trying to make himself look like he knew more about martial arts than you? is that what this is really all about mike? cause i already said i wasnt even trying to act like i was better or knew more, despite the clear fact that a backflip done by the wrestler is so totally NOT the same thing as what rickson did, making your argument totally invalid......that just shows what a nice guy i am if anything. but hey, if you dont want to get over its your problem, not mine.Originally posted by Mike BrewerYeah, I did read it. It's not an insult to say the kid has more balls than you do, Dick. You've been saying the same thing all along with all of your posts about "I'd never take those kinds of risks." How is it that you can be all offended by my repeating something you said about yourself? You said you would never take those risks, and that winning a high school wrestling match wasn't worth it to you. It was to that kid, and so he did take a risk. How am I wrong for saying that he has more balls than you? At least in this instance...doesn't he?
And it's not about being corrected, either. The point was never differences in technique, and making it about that was a distraction from the real issue we'd been talking about: risk. I didn't post the Rickson clip because it was the same move that kid used. I posted it because it was unconventional, more dangerous than some of the things you might normally see in an MMA ring, and - here's the important part - not something he probably trained a great deal. In other words, the similarity was in the fact that Rickson pulled that off because it was a "feel of the moment" type move; same as the high school kid. It wasn't a comparison of techniques, Dick. It was a comparison of attitudes.
I wonder why you didn't feel a need to "correct me" about Genki Sudo. The showy, risky, unconventional techniques he used were nothing like that high school kid. Maybe I figured break dancing in the ring or doing cartwheel kicks was the same as doing backflips in high school wrestling.
So finally, I'll deal with this whole notion of your character flaws. I didn't say they were flaws. I just said I'd rather learn a competitive sport from a competitor. You said yourself that you wouldn't take risks in competition, and that you had no desire to be a competitive fighter, didn't you? Why, then, would I want to take advice from you on a competitive sport? I may have restated it more abrasively, but every criticism I made of you, you first made of yourself. As for the idea that you were being humble and not belittling me when you criticized my training?
Gosh, Dick. If you had no intention of belittling, and within just a few short posts, you ended up saying things like that, it shows an awful lack of self-control, doesn't it.

is this bait too ???Originally posted by Mike BrewerDick I was having a real discussion right up until you stopped discussing reasons for your criticisms. I just asked why you felt the need to say that the kid in that video was training irresponsibly, and you turned it into "Mike doesn't know how to grapple." It's pretty plain that you'd rather talk smack about me than back up your opinions, so I didn't see a need to continue to ask you for real input. I know you probably feel bad that I pointed out that kid's competitive spirit far exceeds your own, and I know I said I could respect his will to improvise and win unconventionally more than your desire to play it safe. I can see where that would have put you on the defensive, so I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel inadequate.
But no, the discussion stopped when you got your knickers in a twist and refused to talk about your opinions. Look back, and I'm sure you'll see where it happened. I explained my own opinions, and then I asked you to delve into your opinions, and you started telling me how little I know about grappling, remember? Well, for the sake of resuming discussion,
Let's say I have never grappled, never punched, never done one thing martial. Does that somehow mean I am not qualified to judge competitive instinct? I don't care if that kid was riding a throw or doing a triple lutz. The point was not the technique, but the facts that (a) he was not injured, and (b) he won the match. Please explain to me how it makes any difference at all - even a little bit - whether an observer can tell you what the technique was.
if by any chance that its not, just re-read the thread yourself mike. you are the one who starts with the personal attacks in post 20, by trying to say the kid has more balls than me. you are free to think what you want about me, but that is the point in the thread were you began to shift the discussion away from the clip and focus more on what you perceive to be my character flaws. and you did this right after i pointed out to you that the 2 techniques were no the same. you can not handle being corrected, i did so with no ego or intention of belittling you, and so you have to make personal attacks. this is a poor display of self control.

baiting?? i was under the impression that you were looking to have a real discussion, i didnt know you were just looking to troll the forum. and somehow, you admitting that all your posts on this thread were nothing more than trolling is supposed to make you feel good about yourself ???

no need to lie now. you just lost your temper again, and your best defense is that you were actually just trolling instead lool.......thats a good one....

I hear those who are Master Baiters achieve strong fore arms and have hairy palms. Is this true, Mike?Originally posted by Mike BrewerDick's trouble is that he takes it all so seriously, he can't tell what's bait and what's not.

I don't blame you for feeling bad about being humiliated yet again, kid. Go smoke some weed and try to forget about it...

i think you got it backwards bro, and the reason you would even state this is cause you know it isnt true and it also fills a small part of your great desire to constantly swing off mike b's sack.Originally posted by jubaji View PostActually, he has been making you look ridiculous jumping through hoops over nothing.
the two of you combined couldnt even hang with mr arieson in a political debate, and that guy is as radical as they come .... LOL....

yeah, but none of that changes the fact that after your inexperience in grappling was pointed out to you by another member of the forum, your only course of action was to personally attack that person for multiple pages on end since you cant stand being corrected or not perceived as an expert in every single topic you speak about.Originally posted by Mike BrewerDick, I'm sorry for posting twice in a row, but I just went back and read Little Apple's post. Stop and think about this for a second. It's obvious by her response that she's both been in a position where she acted out of creative instinct AND felt that competitive compulsion to win. She seems to know what it means to listen to your fighting instincts in the face of adversity. She appears to understand completely the spontaneity that is involved when a competitive athlete finds himself in a tough spot and comes up with a highlight move.
You, on the other hand, are sitting there in the bong haze, trying to tell me what's important in training and fighting?
Nope. That high school kid showed more will and balls than you, and Little Apple showed more warrior spirit than you. Jesus. Even Jubaji has common sense working for him.
You know what that leaves you with? Risk aversion and a fear of competition. What a plus.

hmm, and despite all that, your knowledge of grappling is still that weak???? you cant even tell the difference between a backflip and a guy riding a throw??thats terrible mike. maybe you should have trained with better people, or paid better attention when the instructor was teaching.Originally posted by Mike BrewerI can promise you, I have spent more years grappling with more experienced people than you've probably even met. That's not the point. Your resume is obviously sadly, sadly lacking and that sadness is only exceeded by your lack of athletic and competitive instinct. Hell, I was training with Gracie affiliates before the first UFC aired.

the only acceptance of mediocrity has been your training in grappling, which is obviously very limited. yet you want to act like you are an expert on the subject, when you cant tell the difference between two different techniques. then you want to get butt hurt and sad cheeks when someone else points out out your blatant mistakes.Originally posted by Mike BrewerWhy the hell would I want to take lessons from someone who hasn't got a competitive bone in him? I wouldn't want to pollute my own experience with your frightened, risk averse training methods, and I wouldn't want to diminish my competitive spirit by listening to some pinkus that's scared of anything unconventional. I think I'll pass, Dick. And I don't mean the kind of pass that happens after a couple of puffs. I just don't have enough room in my own training for the acceptance of mediocrity you've shown here. I'm sorry to have to put it this way, but you seem like someone who's completely at peace with the idea of living a substandard, uneventful, boring, safe existence. That's just not enough for me.
I'd personally rather break my damned neck going balls to the wall than waste my potential pondering the "safe path" through bong smoke and sawdust.
However, if you ever grow your own set of nuts and want to experience some risk in training - the thrill of overcoming risk and conquering your currently pathetic and irrational fear of risk - I'll help you out. Hell, I'll even train you for free.
