There you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Dick Hardman says it's okay for professional wrestlers with worldwide audiences in the millions to perform moves that could result in death and maiming on a wide scale as kids everywhere try to copy what they see. The Rock is allowed to dump people on their heads and necks, and he can jump off a five foot high set of ropes onto another man's exposed spine, and that's fine. It's all good.

But damn that high school kid in his wrestling tournament for being so irresponsible in front of that crowd of two dozen parents and coaches. Damn him for his death wish.

just give it a rest bro. you just wanna argue for the sake of arguing.

i may watch pro wrestlers do risky moves on tv, that doesnt mean im gonna go out and try to use them on other people the way jubaji did when he got into that drunk brawl in the dennys parking lot when he was waiting to be seated so he could get his "moons over my hammie".

          Wrestling coach rejoices

I have been teaching that single leg escape for about 3 years now...exclusively actually. We no longer sprawl, head control, circle, or any other method of defense/counter. 100% backflip escape always and early. Finally nice to see it executed in competition! My new book GymGrapple will finally make me the millions I've waited a lifetime for and allow me to open 100,000 sq. ft training center in Las Vegas!!!

Serious lack of perspective in these forums sometimes. Dangerous?...yes Effective?...at the time. Duplicable?...Highly unlikely. Entertaining with a dash of OMG?...Undeniably!!!

            Dangerous?

I didn't see in any of the brochures that combat sports were dangerous. I'm interested in cause of this obvious omission from the Learn to Defend Yourself from Any Attacker super duper Study At Home Series...

I need to seriously reconsider this whole lifestyle now that this new information is coming to light. Maybe it's back to gator wrestling and chainsaw juggling for me!

dont you admire and respect them for being so brave and being such risk takers though??? i mean, they put it all on the line and didnt even think twice about going headfirst through a table off their roof. you condone putting yourself in dangerous situations and taking huge, unnecessary risks, so if anything pro wrestling and backyard wrestling should be right up your alley.

I was not criticising the young man in the video for taking risks. You were. The quote you posted was me making fun of you for your hypocrisy. It's called sarcasm. The morons who engage in activities like backyard wrestling are...well, morons. They aren't competitors any more than their pro-wrestling inspirations. You were the one who said that you'd never take such risks just to look cool or to entertain people, and yet you're one of the biggest pro-wrestling fans here. How is it that you justify criticizing the high school kid for taking a moderate risk one time in a competition, but you're totally supportive of pro-wrestlers doing it every weekend, just to look cool and entertain people?
you repeatedly condoned dangerous behaviors and stunts, and then personally attacked forum members who didnt share your view. if anything you should look up to pro wrestlers and kids who are willing to break their backs jumping off their roof, it doesnt get anymore dangerous and risky than that mike. if you watch wwf and feel the need to go to your backyard to suplex one of your buddies off your roof thats fine mike, but dont get mad at others when they dont share your point of view.

ive criticized pro wrestling too in other threads mike. ive mentioned before how bad it was that millions of kids were tuning in every week to watch people do all kinds of asinine things on WWF.

you mentioning pro wrestling has nothing to do with the discussion anyway, you just want to try to argue irrelevant points to distract from how you blew up earlier for being corrected by someone you perceive to be inferior to you.

hahah, all these pages of crap are nothing more than mike b trying to attack my character cause he just couldnt handle a stoner pointing out the difference between a backflip and guy landing right after someone attempted to throw him. and if that doesnt show the weakness in your character, the fact that you tried to cover up all the irrelevant crap and personal attacks you have posted by saying you were merely just trolling the thread, not trying to have a serious discussion is a pretty pathetic thing to say, especially from a moderator LOL....

i cant believe you cant get over it mike. if you are letting internet characters with ridiculous screen names get the better of you like this, you may need to look into anger management classes.

That is pretty ridiculous. Suggesting that you have any character to attack is patently absurd.

yeah, but even i wouldnt sink as low as using alternate screen names and personalities to try to trick forum users into thinking you are a handicapped guy, or using wwf moves on dennys patrons because you cannot exercise even enough self control to not shit your pants in front of your inlaws when you are sober, let alone intoxicated and eager to eat some dennys after a long night of driving around and binge drinking.

That's great, me neither. Of course, you don't need to do any pretending to convince people of your handicap, you've made it clear time and time again.

You guys are hilarious! I'm loving this thread!
Dick, you poor thing, you only have two arguments: "Mike can't tell the difference between flipping and riding." and "Mike is just dodging the topic." You need to mix it up a little if you're going to be convincing.

Anyway, I mostly piped up to point out that pro-wrestling isn't actually that dangerous. Those men are amazing stunt performers and stage combatants, but that's about it. All you need to do is take a couple good stage combat classes and you'll see it plain as day.
Don't get me wrong, as someone who wants to be a stunt double, I've got loads of respect for the versatility of stunts they do, not to mention they do it in an arena! In film/stage fighting the camera/audience is usually just on one side, so you can play the angle. But they're surrounded, it's fantastic that they pull half the stuff off! Truly though, unless something goes really wrong, or one of them sucks, they don't get any more injuries than somebody in an action film.
