    Hi Elam,

I'll tell you what they tell you in Canada, when I was living there. That people all over the world love Canadians and if you wear your flag in Europe etc. they will treat you very well I guess partly because of the fact that Canadians fought so well in WW2 and WW1 and help liberate Holland etc..

Canadians have a whole lot to be proud of, ask German veterans how Canadians fought. I've heard of them refering to Canadians as the S.S. of the British Empire, I guess an insult to us but they meant it to say that we (I'm partly Canadian) are very tough.

I'll take your word for it on what other Nationalities say about Canadians, I don't really know anyone outside of N.America very well.

I don't know, are many people finding Canadians obnoxious?

I have always found them to be VERY nice people, but that is just my experience. My experience has always been that they want to really emphasize how much better they are than America, but don't really constantly put down places like Britain Australia etc., but that is just my experience and it sounds like you have been around the world alot more than I have so I'll take your word for it.

I just know that in MY opinion Canada is probably the best place to live in in the world but I think the U.S on the whole is a VERY close second (but I've never lived in Britain, Australia, or other European coutries so they might be up there also). Each place has it's strong and weak points, but I'll probably stay in the States until the crime gets alot worse, because of the extreme taxes up in Canada.

Mik, you're right. Most of the world hate Americans but respect Canada. Canadians tend to be more educated and less opinionated that Yanks. They also tend to have more guts.

Texas has always been a great place to live. It has excellent fishing, hunting, and GJJ/BJJ. The women are gorgeous and you've got a pick of any type terrain you want. Its a great place to be from.

Being partial to Oklahoma, I'd have to say oklahoma has some of the hottest women.

San Diego's also a fine place to meet a hottie.

Btw: Canadiens are wannabe Americans. Give me a break about your tales of Heroic Mounties. Please! Canadiens count their lucky stars for haven the good ole US of A protecting their nuetral little asses.

The same goes for any other country resenting the biggest baddest boy on the block.

Everybody sing with me, " Ohhhhh, say can you seeeeeeee...................

If you get a chance, read up on the performance of Canadian forces during the landing at Normandy. They were squared off against the Hitler Youth, yes, 14 and 15 year old boys, and took quite the ass kicking, until english forces bailed them out. But Canada being spinelessly neutral does have its advantages, for example you can purchase imitation passports that say you are from Canada, so no anti-american terrorist orginization will pop a cap in your ass when you travel abroad.

                Mik,

I've heard that one about them getting treated better. That may be true in Europe but Europeans tell me it's not. Sure, when there are no Americans around Euros and Brits will tell Canadians how much more they like them and how much they hate Americans. When I'm there they talk smack about Canadians. And if I'm with a Canadian we'll probably make fun of the Euros.

                Legion,

I love the excuse about the safety of not being mistaken for American. Like an anti-US terrorist is going to say, "Excuse me, may I see your passport? I want to be sure you're American before I murder you." or "I was going to shoot you before I saw that maple leaf patch on your bag." As for hostage taking, any westerner will do. Why can't they just admit they're a bunch of nationalistic fruit cakes with a chip on their shoulders.

My jar head buddy used to love telling Canadians that "We could kick your ass with the Salvation Army."

Legion, let me get back to you in a couple days with some quotes and sources on the events of D-Day.

Please give me your sources for your claims that Canadians were the only ones who went against the highly trained and fanatical Hitler Youth and had trouble (I know that they had no more trouble than anyone else but let me get back to you with my sources). And don't try to give me any made up or B.S sources because I WILL be checking them. I'm currently between classes and so have the time to do so. And I enjoy my War History so I have no problems with doing that.

So anyway I'll get back to you with some quotes on what happened with Canadians on D-Day. I'll get some stuff off the internet and email some Canadian Regiments that I KNOW did exceptionally well on D-Day.

I hope i may also be able to find some quotes from German Veterans on the Canadian fighting Man.

Don't get me wrong I'm not putting down what the U.S did, (my Grandfather fought in WW2 and my Great Grandfather in WW1 for the U.S., and my Dad wanted to go to Vietnam but was to young). I'm very proud of the American contribution, but why do we have to put down what other people have done to make ourselves feel and look better, and then how can we wonder why the rest of the world hates the U.S. so much. We could do wonders for our world P.R. if we tried to cut down on some of this kind of behaviour, just a thought.

I'm an American and PROUD of it, but I know for a fact that the Canadians fought as well as anybody, and occasionally quit a bit better in both WW1 and WW2.

Ask the Germans, especially at Vimy Ridge in WW1. Many said it would be impossible to take the Ridge the French tried twice (I believe) and failed miserably. I think someone else might have tried to take it also maybe the U.S or U.K. (and I'm not putting them down in any way shape or form I respect the British fighting Man tremendously).

Anyway the Canadians took it (the Ridge), and many call it the turning point of WW1. Interesting fact - Adolf Hitler, of all people, was in that Battle, fighting for Austria. I'm also going to try to maybe find a quote from Hitler himself on the Canadian fighting Man, if it exists. I know he had TREMENDOUS respect for the British, and I think he just considered Canadians part of the British Army, which at that time was accurate in a lot of ways.

You might be confused with the failed Canadian raid on Dieppe instead of D-Day (which was doomed to fail no matter who did it).

E1am, I've never been outside of N.America so I have no idea what is true and not true about what Canadians say about their treatment in Europe. But I do know that your undoubtedly a lot more likely to be treated like s*it if they know your American (and I'm not talking about terrorists, I'm talking about regular People).

Of course I see your point about it being difficult for them to tell if your American or Canadian, but I guess that gets back to the reason for them wearing their flag so much.
