  • Do we have all the capacity to learn MMA?

Well, as just like me who doesn't possess a nice height and a perfect body but
Willing to learn MMA, i'm a big fan of MMA when i look at it my heart pumps out when i can explain how cool it was.

I just really want to experience what was the feeling when you are in the cage, fighting for what you believe was cool, grappling with all of your strength when everybody's watching you fighting with all the desire to win.

I Know it is really hard to start with it, but if i am eligible to learn MMA maybe i will.

If you got all your limbs, you're more than eligible.

Well… it does take courage to get in the octagon/cage/ring; but it takes more courage to devote yourself to a MMA program. Believe me; the hard-core training will break you even if you’re in decent shape. This is assuming, you’re training to actually fight.

But just stepping into the cage… That just takes getting over your initial fear of losing, pain and embarrassment; nothing a few beers can’t fix. I say this because I’ve been to events that allow you to jump right in against random opponents. All you have to do is sign a waiver. I once saw a guy who got peer pressured into fighting because he talked so big. He downed a couple beers to get his nerves going and signed up. Problem was he tapped after being taken down because he was so scared. Afterwards, he talked like he was a veteran cage fighter. I trained with a guy whose overweight, out of shape and had very little skill; yet, he got into the cage! He was willing to take 1 round of punishment (which he did) just so he could brag about being a MMA fighter. In fact, he wore the scars around like a badge of honor. But these guys probably won’t ever step back into the cage.

Yeah, it takes nerves to get into the cage, but it takes more to be training very hard every day and getting your chops busted by other fighters just so you can “win” in the cage. This is why for fighters; the nervousness is gone because they’ve been through it. They’ve been through the furnace.
Also, it takes a special person with the right skill sets and attitude to become a champion. The rest of the folks training are missing pieces of the puzzle. At best, they become good fighters or trainers in their own right.

But, you never know until you try... Read Sam Sheridan's "A Fighter's Heart," or Pat Militech's book.

I'd love to learn mma and train in it. I only train bjj.

But I'd never step into an underground cage fight. From watching some of the underground cage fighters, I can say that some of them have no skills at all. But I don't want to test myself against them, it might be harder than I thought and I might get hurt. I have another career, bjj is a hobby. Although I am curious to test myself, it's not worth the risks. I don't want to break my nose, lose teeth, get black eyes, or dislocate my shoulder, that would be a rough result to testing myself. Also, I don't think I could slug someone in the face, I've never done that before.

A famous bjj guy did a self defense seminar at my school once where he showed us knife and gun disarms, with rubber weapons. I jokingly asked him afterwards if someone has a gun and asks for his wallet, would he disarm them? He said "HELL NO, I give them my wallet!"

It's all about how much you want to risk.

Skillz you want to have at least a decent knowledge of before you decide to fight chumps in an amature MMA bout:
          Jab, haymaker, uppercut
Front kick, thigh kick checking ability, thai clinch, thai clinch defense, knees
Sprawl, Z-sit, sit, body lock throws, double leg, single leg
And a comprehensive knowledge of either JJ, BJJ, or 10thplanetjj to the point where you arn't getting tapped up and down the dojo and you're acctually tapping out other people.

If you understand and can use those skillz you should stand a chance. I help coach in Rantoul here in Illinois, I wouldn't advise anyone who trained with us to fight without a working knowledge of those skills. Keep in mind I left some things out because the State Athletic commision in Illiniois doesn't allot elbows or knees to the face in the amature circuit and all fighters must provide proff that they are HIV and Hep free, and pass a pre fight physical. Some other states don't provide those kinds of safegaurds, so don't get into the ring with a dude who just signs a waiver, you don't know where he's been, and you don't know how qualified the ref is in a state or orginization that allows that.

            .
Anyone can learn any style including MMA, but it does not mean
they will be any good or successful at it.

One never knows until they try.

First thing is to get over the fear of failing, and then .............
