  • Did you just grab my a$$? Re Pride 14

I stayed away from the forum 'cause I didn't wanna know the results 'til I got to watch the event. Unless I'm missing something, I'm shocked there has been NO discussion of Pride 14 results.

Henderson continues to impress. I really like him as an NHB fighter. He's got more heart than anyone in the game, except maybe Vanderlie Silva. He mauled Shoji. His striking skills are very deceiving. If you look at him strike, you wouldn't think much of his form, but he's VERY effective.

Vitor did better than I thought he would. When he got the decision, I was in disbelief, but I later found out there's a new rule in Pride where if you outweigh your opponent by 10 kilos or more, you have to finish him to win. Vitor wasn't in trouble, but if this were a no time limit fight, he would've been raped.

The Silva x Japanese fighter matchup was useless.

Yvel continues to show how useless he is in MMA. Vovchanchin has adapted to the ground game. Yvel is still "stupid on the ground" as he put it.

I was really surprised at how fast Overeem folded against Goodoridgee. Goodridge didn't even begin to strike him before Overeem tapped like a b*tch.

And Nino? Gimme a break. His fighting stance is typical BJJ b*llshit. He couldn't stand up strike his way out of a paperbag. He looked like a UFC 1 era fighter. He won't go anywhere in NHB. And I can't believe they're touting Ricardo Alameida as a NHB rising star. That guy is useless on his feet too, although not as bad as Nino.

I wonder what is next for Silva? I have heard rumors that Sakuraba has hired the services of a Muay Thai coach from Bangkok. Supposedly. he wants to beat Silva by the way of KNOCKOUT not submission.

I also wonder what the status of Matsui is going to be like in the future, that guy is persistant as hell. Yvel needs to shape up his ground game, ASAP.

I hope a Yvel rematch with Silva will be next, same with Belfort and Silva.

Hahah. Sakuraba's mistake was that he tried to trade blows w/ Silva. If he trained in Muay Thai for 10 years, he'd still get his clock cleaned. If this is true, he needs to have his head examined.

And Silva x Yvel? That fight would never happen. They're in different weight classes.

I'd like to see Belfort x Silva again. Belfort would clean his clock. He's bigger and stronger than Silva, better on the ground and standup. The only way Silva would beat Belfort is if Vitor comes to the ring w/ Vitor's worm.

Why does it seem like Vitor is just never going to be the fighter we all want him to be? He has all the tools to be #1 (and more) and yet I doubt he'll ever be. While I believe based on pure skill alone Vitor should be able to kill Silva, in the rematch I take Silva.

                Zhoo,
Silva and Yvel HAS happened and both are not happy with the outcomes. Both parties have put each other on their Sh!t list and want a rematch.

What I also want to see is Fujita VS Coleman, its about damn time that Coleman fought him. I wonder why Pride keeps him on the backburner so much. I have no doubt in my mind that Coleman is the #1 heavy, but he has not fought too many elite heavies this or last year to my knowledge. (not his fault at all)

You're right. What was I thinkin'? That's the fight where Silva knee'd Yvel in the groin and they had to stop the fight. But they are in different weight classes. Silva holds a title, right? So does Coleman. I can't remember if Silva got a belt from the Sakuraba fight.

Accidental kick! Silva went for a low kick, brushed against Yvel's groin, and his jocked pinched something I think.
That Sak belt that Silva has is just for fun. A belt made out of cardboard. Something Sak gave to Silva for fun. The belt doesnt have any real merit. Sak made it himself and wore it after the Ryan Gracie fight.

And if Matsui can fight Vovchanchin. I think the matchups in Pride would not be restricted by weight.

Except gross mismatches like Ryan Gracie VS Kerr.......then again stranger matchups have happened in PRIDE.

Tiger, so you're saying there's only one championship belt in Pride and Coleman has it? WTF? I can't believe they don't have weight classes yet. Silva would probably do okay against Yvel, but he shouldn't be fighting him.

That Vovchanchin fight against Yvel was unbelievable. Igor looked like a BJJ black belt in that fight. He's a smart fighter, unlike Yvel who is probably one of the worst ground fighters in the game.

Mark my words fellas. Nino will not go anywhere in NHB. And the "rising star" as ADCC put it (Ricardo Alameida) will be only marginally successful in NHB.

Not even a championship belt Zhoo. Its a Grand Prix Tournament belt where they did that tournament last May. And I do not think they will be doing that again either. Too expensive!
