Yeah, that was them, and that's probably why Plaxico Burress shot himself in a night club.

No he shot himself because he is an idiot. He's just another thug with the inability to control himself. He went out and jumped on the bandwagon of cool all the other wannabees were into, in his case he bought a Glock. Of course any instruction in how to use it were unnecessary, after all he's an athlete!!

He stuffed in down his pants like all the cool dudes do, then when he moved around it actually slid down his pants!! (Hey that doesn't happen in the movies!!) Then when he reached for it, he found the trigger in the process and shot himself, so in essence you're right it was more stupidity in the SD world from an athlete.

Are you sure that isn't the Gracies' fault too?

I dunno, did he hang out with them when they were doing roids, the multiple carjackings, the hit and runs or assaulting the elderly?

Heheheh bringing a knife to assault an old man and still losing the fight thats hysterical all by itself.

Or did he study GJJ and believe Helio when he said that GJJ gave him a bullet proof shield? Is that what you're implying? Was he testing his GJJ?

          Still wanna play jackass?

Pfffffft... I can't stop now, you haven't even brought up the butt-scoot yet. Oh, and what about pulling guard? I think you're starting to forget your lines. Personally I'm convinced that the reason LeBron James won't shake hands is that he was taught the butt-scoot defense at a young age.

It's perfectly understandable that in light of the actions and statements of the Gracies you'd prefer to go on these wild rants of pure fantasy hoping to block out the reality that you were suckered into being one of their nutthuggers.

The UFC and MMA were the marketing machines that pushed GJJ into mainstream, back in those days the only advert for GJJ was in a small section of BB magazine, virtually unnoticed by most - unless you happened to catch the testimonials from Chuck Norris and Paul Vunak (or was it Dan Inosanto?).

The UFC took on all styles, from brawling/boxers, karateka and grapplers - its unfortunate that the "in your face" unsportsman like behavior is what made the most money, but that's the show-biz side of it all.

Looking back at the early UFC's, the Gracies seemed to present themselves as humble, focused and confident - especially during the pre-fight interviews. Very little trash talking, just a brief statement about their style and what they want to do. I don't see GJJ as promoting the unsportsman-like image. That's more of business side of UFC.

I still think that MMA has done good for the martial arts in terms of training methods and the need for scientific sports training but you've got a good point - where's the moral, philosophical aspect that distinguishes a MA-ist from a brawler?

Yet many fighters (like GSP or Urijah Faber) are gracious sportsmen, but their behavior doesn't make sensational headlines. In all honesty the majority of fighters that I've heard speak have had a lot of respect for their opponent as well as the fans. Of course, MMA's loudest critics wouldn't know about that because they don't actually watch the fights; they don't have (or need) a rational reason to sling mud. When you consider the number of stupid things said and done by famous athletes, actors, musicians and politicians MMA fighters aren't any more likely to be ass-holes than any other type of celebrity.

Very interesting. I have been hoping for some information on his "enhancements." If any type of synthetic has been used, he, nor anyone else, should not be allowed to participate.

Steroid use is nothing new in the sports world. I have no idea if he has ever used these enhancements but it wouldn't surprise me if he had.

Exactly! If true, he definately is not alone.

                              good hook

The UFC and Spike clearly have very effective marketing ploys to draw even more than they already have. They have for years together. Kimbo is another angle that they are using well. His face and physique are already causing a stir from there season 10 commercials. Nobody I know is talking about Evans or Jackson, just Kimbo.
I don't think Kimbo would be so foolish as to not have expanded his game since the Petruzelli debacle, but I do see him being beat early in the show.

Since the season has already been shot I wonder in anyone has any spoilers as to how far Kimbo makes it.

The finale would be HUGE but I just can not see how that happens if everything is booked fair.
