  • The Doctor is In, Injury Report-Line up!

On another board, there is a post about your injuries sustained in training.
Since there seem to be so many off topic posts, I thought I would attempt to get to get back a bit on track, talking about training.

So, for all you athletes-what aches, hurts, is sprained, broken, had surgery on...etc.

    Uhh, for all you arm chair wanna be's;
a sprained finger from pressing the remote doesn't cut it.

    Well ...

I got my left elbow slightly hyper extended by an armbar last april, and it's still bothering me. I dislocated my left shoulder in July. My neck has been a little sore as of late. And recently my knees have really been bothering me. I'm only 25 years old and I'm walking around like a man of SweepEm's advanced age.

tweeked ankle - from a heel hook; better, but still tight.

bad shoulders - from multiple kimura's, americana's, etc.; can't bench press because of it.

bad knees - they're not too bad; don't know how they went bad, probably just age.

tweeked left pinkie (lol) - will occasionally pester me.

that's about it! no surgeries (knock on wood) or breaks.

          Ooooooo...

          Quad,

If your opponent is pulling A LOT on your lapel (to keep you in his guard, etc.) to prevent you from lifting your head, then that'll do it. No cranking of the neck necessary. Could this possibly be it?

I rocked my left foot (bent back some toes) last week. I actually trained 3x's last week. I guess my body is sending me a message.

Can’t pass up a chance to bitch and moan. Tendon injury to my elbow. Can’t lift and can’t train in any competitive fashion. I was told yesterday I need ear surgery. The bone in one of my ear canals has grown across the opening sealing the thing off except for a pinhole. This is my traitorous body attempting to protect my eardrum from cold water. If they drill it, I have to stay out of the water for at least 2 months. If I can’t train, and at the same time I can’t get in the water, I am going to be pissed off and cranky. I need to solve the elbow before I let them drill my ear out.

The message is ‘more drinking, less training”

Ok, I'll start. I'm going to use jr. high/high school injuries too (wrestling), because it's still grappling.

Torn/severely strained biceps, both. Blown out ear drum (who needs the ocean?). Couple of neck related injuries.

                    Judo/BJJ related
Strained ligament in knee from rolling. Torn rotator cuff and severely sprained tendons in shoulder.

Broken fingers/severely sprained (two fingers). PT cost: $2100.

Unknown elbow injury resulting in loss of ROM. PT cost: $2800+.

Too many broken toes to remember.

This doesn't even include other sport related injuries and PT. Heheheeheh.

                      ok...lets see...

                      1. right wrist hurt because did not think of tapping to an unexpected wrist lock...

                      2. left thumb hurts from bending backwards too much...i was trying to escape a triangle choke by grabbing Ratobranco's lapel and jammed my thumb on his chest instead...

                      3. both knees hurt just from doing bjj...its on the inside on the knees...

                      4. back hurts sometimes...

thats about it...let hope it does not increase.

Not really grappling related, but my wrist has been aching, but I suspect from Mountain Bikin. This is as good an excuse as any to get those Rock-Shox Judy XC Shocks I've had my eyes on for a while.

                        Check it out.

And when I mean aching, I mean ACHING.
I can barely twist my wrist, or put ANY sort of pressure on it.
                          It's also kinda swollen.
I'm gonna go see a doctor about it.

                          BTW
You won't be seeing any MA-related injuries from me in a while, though. I'm out of my old MA school

                            List:

-swollen knee from leg kick; it still klicks
-bad shoulder from too many hooks on the bag
                            -cracked ribs
-one molar cracked from accidental headbutt (it was damaged; it grinded with the molar below and left root exposed, dental surgery done asap..)
-one strange thing; one of the guy at the academy had this conjunctivitis bacteria and it did infect all us (15 guys) we had the worst case of red eye in history; I secreted yellow liquid from my left eye for three weeks, stayed on cortisone for two and lost 10 pounds. Other guys fared worse.
Other than that I'm fine, thanks.

                            Sometimes steroids protect you....LOL!
