No, like I keep saying, you push the heel away from your body while keeping the foot stuck in your armpit. It is the motion of pushing the heel away from the rest of the foot that hurts.

I meant there isn't much pressure at the point of no return. When it stops, it doesn't give much more. There is pain leading up to this point too, that may be what your are talking about. We will get each other in ankle locks and slowly apply pressure to discover the mechanics of the locks. The heel hook has very little give after it stops. Usually if their is give it is because the lock is loose somewhere. The straight achilles lock seems to have a lot more give comparatively due to the foot flexation.

i think i get it now. Let me run it through you and you check for mistakes. So oncei hook his left leg with my right leg, i hold his ankle with my forearms, toes pointing into my armpit. I then pull back on the heel to apply some presure?

Honestly, you're not going to get this just from someone explaining it to you, you really need to be shown it. Here are the changes that need to be made in your description:

-You need to control your opponent's leg with both of your legs. Squeeze it with your thighs or figure 4 his leg with yours (although there is an inherent danger to this, don't worry about it now).
-you are not holding his foot with your forearm. You are using your armpit to hold his foot.
-your forearm does not pull back on the heel (that's more like an Achilles' tendon lock). Your forearm is going to go between your body and his heel, and then you press the heel further away from your body. The entire time, you will be holding his toes with your armpit.
