I don't know one Muay Thai fighter that likes to spar lightly including myself.
Second those who do compete don't go full power with only the hands.Fighters always go hard with all strikes whether shin kicks, knees or punches and in countries where the elbow is allowed it is done full contact too just as done in Thailand. These are the reasons why very few Thai fighters make it past their 30's for competeing and many get hurt.

Do me a favour and please know what the hell you are talking about before describing Muay Thai to others.
"What makes you think Muay Thai sparring is not done full contact? I got news for you bud you are wrong.Muay Thai is known to use full power for a reason."
In Muay Thai we do go full power and go right through with our punches.Unlike most arts we don't pull back or snap our kicks and punches we go right through with our techniques.
The goal of a Muay Thai fighter is to end a fight as fast as possible with powerfull strikes and often to go for knockout.
Muay Thai fighters like to destroy an opponent they find hard to beat by causing pain to their opponents thighs, shins and knees in order to take person off balance and to put an end to their opponent fighting back for this reason we win 9 out of 10 fights.
"Muay Thai is only usefull so long as you are physically strong as Muay Thai depends on strength as well as technique"
This simply is not so.
It is true that Muay Thai depends on technique however strength has little to do with it although it does help. One cannot help to notice that compared to many other martial arts Muay Thai fighters often appear to be very thin or skinny so obviously rely on power.
We rely alot on speed and power. Like other arts we believe with speed comes power .
Muay Thai is all about technique, speed, and hitting hard but with full power not strength. No doubt does strength help of course.
I agree with every thing else you say about Muay Thai though.

Muay Thai fighter, You have never professionally trained at a Muay Thai camp which in my opinion is the real deal so how the hell can you tell me they dont spar 50%

Muay Thai fighter your knowledge of Muay thai is quite blurred, honestly, take your know it all butt over to Thailand and impose your ideas of "training" on them and we'll see what they tell you.
1st thing is, you do not spar heavy in Thai style sparring, why? Because in Thailand one usually has a busy fight schedule so what if you get a fucking injury in sparring? eh? you cant exactly perform well can you so then you spar lightly but quickly. Boxing with the hands in the 3 camps that I trained was always done heavy.
Muay Thai is only effective so long as you are physically strong enough to apply the techniques, once you become a weak individual then Muay Thai has lost its power.
Honestly Muay Thai fighter I strongly agree with Damien, get your ass over to Thailand and find out for your self, you will be very surprised.
before making assupmtions of how it is done in Muay Thai training first experience the real deal.
I wrote this :
"some camps like to see how the heart of a new student is by pairing him off with someone and letting them go full power but only with the hands... "
Muay Thai fighter have you ever been to an asian country? do you even realise that they have different ways of doing things than we do, for one they havnt got the fear of being sued if they stick a guy into a ring when he really doesnt want to be there to fight!
I have seen 13 year old boys being whipped with a cane because he kicked wrong, I have seen a young lad, who is now in prison and also ex-champion of Lumpinee, being violently kicked to the legs as punishment for doing something wrong! I was put into a ring with a champion of Norther n Thailand and told to box! hard and fast to see the heart I have.... sometimes they would even take you to local shows and have you fight someone to see your heart, 3 months training and they expect you to get in the ring.
Do you think I just made this all up? what do you think I am just sayiong this for a laugh?
you said this :
"Do me a favour and please know what the hell you are talking about before describing Muay Thai to others."
Muay Thai fighter, I think what you have is a crap teacher, and you are full of gung ho and would not last long in Thailand, I know and love Muay Thai, I accept that Thai style sparring is done softly, full fucking stop MTF wether you agree or not it is done softly!
I would sugest you stop going to you kickboxing classes and try to find a real Muay Thai gym.

Thats all I can say, say what you want MTF it doesnt really matter, what does matter is I have experienced the true style of Muay Thai and will again very soon and by that time you will be very much at the back of my memory but your all knowing of Muay Thai shall surely shine in this forum to disalusion newcomers into thinking it is something it is not.

good luck mate cos it looks like you'll need it
damn look what i found, maybe your gym in Canada would lkike to argue with the Thai trainers in this camp which happens to be in Thailand!
