Thanks Lorenzo for tyhe detailed advice. I beg to add further that most students would be very happy with their camp, because it will have better training and cheaper than back home. But the better camps (training wise) could be that much better. Don't settle for less. In Bangkok, Fairtex and Kaewsamrit stand out. Jitti gym also offer very good training at lower cost scale.

      hello,

you are welcome of course!! thanks again for your comments. it is appreciated. agreed. most students are quite happy at thier camps. fairtex and kauewsamrit are very good. sityodtong, ingram are good. rombo gym is easy on the budget. the list is big, neh?

actually, sityodtong and fairtex recently opened a HUGE training center over there. have not seen it. perhaps next year. have been told by several that the FIGHTERS still train at thier respective camps. do you have info on this place? have seen photos and it really is impressive.

on a side note, what do you think of the contender: muaythai? apparently they will film in thailand later this year. not sure how much this will interest the thai. it would go over big in the western nations though.

      thanks.

If anyone is heading up north, there is a newish camp in Pai. It is Bee's camp opened with his girlfriend Trudy. www.true-bee.com. Just thought I would drop the plug for a couple of friendly people.

Incidentally, Khun Bee is better known as Mongkondelth Sittheppitark (Former Lumpini champ). Beautiful location for a camp with few big city distractions.

Mongkoldeth used to teach at Chai Yai gym in Chiangmai, so I guess that the trainibng would be similar. Pai is a charming and fairly quiet lovely little town quickly becoming tourist poluted.

I'd like to recommend that anyone looking at Phuket to check out "Chalong Chi Camp"...

Sean Douglas, one of the trainers/fighters, is a friend of mine. He is very knowledgeable and I understand that their camp, though small, is well-respected.

Also in Phuket, the Rawai MuayThai camp is also supposed to be pretty good. One of my own fighters travels their frequently to train and fight. He actually got to fight for a local title while on his last visit. He lost, unfortunately, due to getting his nose broken in Round 3 (he won the 1st 2 rounds)

Bee used to be a trainer at Chay-yai Gym, he was previously head trainer at Fairtex Pattaya and also worked for three months at Vos in Holland (home of Ernesto Hoost,( he was holding pads for Remy Bonyasky and Gilbert Yvel while he was in Holland) besides have more than 300 fights Bee speaks very good English something that is rare in any camp in Thailand. Perhaps the marketing of the gym isnt spot on but i can assure you that the training is very good and definately worth a visit.
