  • Flying or Floating strikes

What do you think of them? Have You used them ?

Do you practice them? against what? (Bag, thai pads, shadow?)

kicks and knees are more common but what about flying elbows/punches?

whats your favorite fight that included a flying/floating technique?

I think aerial techniques are awesome, yes, I use them frequently.
Whenever I practice them, it's usually against a heavy bag, so it doesn't move.
Flying elbows work well, but only in certain situations, like if you're really close and they're shelled up, you can go above and land an elbow on their head. I'd have to say the jump knee is my favourite of the air techs though, because:
      1. It has good range
      2. Hard to block
      3. People don't usually expect it
      4. Looks fucking badass.

I totally agree. My favorite attack is also the flying knee strike to the head. I got diqualified a few times because it is not completely legal in US tournament. I practice against a heavy bag. If you jump and deliver a falling elbow to your oponents shoulder blades or head it is one of the most lethal Muay Thai techniques in existence. I love it!!

        ha ha ha ha ha!

i like the flying knees too!! also the elbows to the head, upper region of the body, did them last week at training, must have look funny walking past seeing all these people jumping in the air with knees out and elbows slamming down into pads..

dont kno if i`d use them in a fight thou, as if your opponent knew what they were doing, they could make u fall on your arse..

As far as I know, IKF rules outlaw knees to the head and elbows completely. But I'm not 100% sure as to whether you can do a flying body knee, as I've never competed, but plan to in the future.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
