"How about this? let a TKD guy fight a Muaythai guy, and lets say they have both trained for 3 years under their traditional training method. Who will win? come on, we all know!"
Under what rule set? People keep forgetting, if you match up a muay thai fighter and a tkd fighter but make the rule set muay thai than DUH muay thai will have a serious upper hand. Go the other way around and: PRO MUAY THAI FIGHTERS IN THAILAND LOSE TO SPORT TKD FIGHTERS. Yes, that is what has happened here. If you change the rules on a fighter he will be seriously disadvantaged. You need to know the game of whatever format you enter into, TKD going into a muay thai ring with no preparation in that format will get his butt kicked 90% of the time.

I agree with rules part, but look at it this way:
Sure, a MT fighter will probably lose to a TKD fighter under TKD rules, but a victory in that what's basically a tag game means crap all to me, i think alot of people can agree.
Sure, a MT fighter will probably beat a TKD fighter under MT rules, but i don't see much point neither, partly becasue the difference in conditioning.
So, let's just be happy with the fact that are two different MAs and that the fighters train and compete differently. So how on earth can you really compare each of them fairly? You can't.
This is why any lame attempt like that video to 'show' that TKD as a style beats MT pisses me off.

"Which makes all the difference, doesn't it?"
Abe what are you talking about? Are you confusing me with somebody saying LOOK! TKD BEATS MUAY THAI! Uh, go back and read my posts, they are about people saying muay thai beats TKD, and I say ya in the muay thai rule set that is a given, but when they reverse it and put pro fighters in a TKD format the pro fighters lose. You gotta know the rules and defences of whatever format you're going into.
This video actually doesnt help my argument since its NOT a tkd format but the TKD guy wins anyway, he had ZERO defence, he shoulda lost but the muay thai guy was pretty much the worst I've ever seen.
ANDY MURRAY! As an instructor in TKD I have to teasingly say: ARE YOU ON CRACK?! My friend, maybe you take a traditional form of TKD, and maybe I do too, but you have to recognise that 90% of TKD is a bigger sport than muay thai, it's olympic for crying out loud, and they are fully stuck in their rigid little game. Change the game on them and they lose horribly.
My point was both styles are very good at their game, so when someone who isn't totally familiar with their game crosses into their world, they usually lose badly.

Regarding TKD being a bigger sport, I really don't think anyone who do MT would care if it is. Plus, look at K-1, and other MMA organisations like UFC, Pride etc, what do you think their fighter include in their training? TKD or MT? Also, I can't think of any professional TKD league, until there is, please shut up about TKD being a bigger sport.

Dude what is your malfunction?! If this is how you talk to people that mostly agree with you I'd hate to be disagreeing with you. I didnt actually say TKD is a bigger sport in the sense you are thinking of..... but its true anyway! What I meant was TKD is more SPORTY than muay thai, since Andy Murray was condemning muay thai as TOO SPORTY and not realistic enough for the street which I thought was ridiculous since TKD is sooooo much more sporty. The rules are way more rigid than muay thai. It is much easier to bring muay thai into a street defence situation than it is sport style TKD.
Now having said that, dude, you're gonna have to get you ego in check and face the facts regardless of how much you love muay thai. You loving muay thai doesnt change the fact that olympic sport style TKD has MILLIONS of practitioners world wide whereas muay thai has THOUSANDS. TKD is an internationally televised olympic event. It's a bigger sport internationally. Why does that make you feel so damn inadequate? The fact that millions of kids and their moms are doing the sport somehow makes you feel less like a man? I just dont get you.
Many full contact fighters DO have TKD training in their background. I've hung out with K1 fighters, I've talked to them and trained with them. I am sure I love muay thai MORE than you! I moved to Thailand I loved it so damn much, I've been training here for 2 years now, I spar pro fighters every week, sometimes every day. I've stepped into the ring here! Stop acting like I'm some idiot that doesnt know anything about muay thai. I gaurantee I know more than you. I don't care if anyone that does muay thai cares if TKD is bigger, they don't need to care, why did you think I cared if they cared?!!!?!? haha Why are you so defensive about muay thai? Sheesh relax fool, I am not even saying the things you think I'm saying but because you're so eager to defend muay thai you keep going off the deep end because you can't read my posts properly, they aren't misleading dude, you just need to chill and read more slowly and quit looking for a reason to go off.
Next time don't tell me to shut up just because you feel threatened by the popularity of another sport whose largest practitioner representation is little kids and middle aged parents.

I must apologise. But please stop the bragging, that doesn't impress or scare me one bit.

Abe, That's kool man, I went on too much too.
Andy Murray, I still think you're joking, but tell me how on earth a martial art limitted to kicks above the belt and (in sport style) punches to the torso only is more street worthy than an art that strikes to many different ranges and uses many more weapons? I'm not saying muay thai is better than TKD for the street (they are both limitted to different degrees due to their leaning towards ring sport training), what I'm saying is: how do you figure TKD is better for the street?

Is Kuk Sool Won a form of TKD or a separate Korean martial art like Hapkido?
I never trained Kuk Sool Won techniques but heard of it from watching Gary Goodridge fight in UFC (VI?) (V?) Can't remember. Whichever art Kuk Sool Won is it sure knocked the crap out of that Ramirez guy Goodridge fought.
