A common misconception about MuayThai is that you need to already be in shape to participate. Nothing could be further from the truth! Any MuayThai program worth it's salt will be able to work with you as you work yourself into shape.

Not to be redundant, but the answer to your question is yes. Before you start though, you should know three very common side effects of Muay Thai when you train hard core:
1) Muscle soreness.
2) It gets you in Good Shape
3) It makes you an effective stand-up fighter
If you can't deal with these side effects, you should probably pick something else.

It would also help if you stopped eating them twinkies, pringles, Mc Crap etc....once you start training. of course it´s a good idea, just find the right club or gym , and I dare you to keep smoking the same way as you go to train. gonna go out on a limb here and say that muay thai alone won't make your weight perfect. it'll get you a good start, but later on down the road you'll have to do some external exercise (weights, cardio, etc) if you really want your body to look better.
