He's not here to provide answers, just to go through every single thread on the entire forum dismissing anything that isn't in the SBG handbook, and making sure he shits on everyone else's point of view along the way.

I was waiting for a response to my question that I posed to him on the Helpful Hints thread, but he has spent the last 2 hours answering it.

However, in fairness to the guy, he does have absolutely everything figured out.

Very much agree. To reiterate - I'm a big fan of their concepts, their culture and their performance. The brief training I have experienced with them was superb. What ultimately lets some of them down for me, and for many people, is their inability to accept their success with a degree of humility and empathy for the preferences of others.

However, I do stress that the attitude of our surfing guro buddy Bodhi is not representative of the people I have met here in the UK - who are all really good guys.

Hey, I really don't want to get into a big beef with anyone on this forum, one of the things I dislike about the internet (not the debates) is people easily get mad at one another, and being behind a screen often seems to turn many (not all) people into pricks or super tough guys.

That said, I really don't know to what degree I can agree or disagree with your statement and sentiment above. I'm sure on the cautious side there is *some* truth in that statement and sentiment, on the other hand I know there exists a reality on U.S. streets where it is fallacious.

I'm no NRA member or super-pro gun supporter that goes around exclaiming all the virtues and freedom firearms bring you. Actually, maybe the U.S. would better off banning all firearms... I don't know?

What I do know though, is that contrary to the image produced on tv shows like CSI, my city's police force only has about a 50% clearance rate of homicides, and most homicides in my city (like America in general) are carried out with firearms. So, this tells me that whether or not homicide investigators (at least in my local area) know or believe you to be guilty in a killing or murder, you have about 50% chance of landing up in prison.

The other thing I know is that I use to carry a semi-automatic pistol on me. In fact I use to lay it in my lap - with round in the chamber - as I drove in my car. If you (the plural "you") ran up to me and tried to car jack me you were going to get shot *through* the door.

And to be honest, I've also been involved in shootings in the past (and no... contrary to tv such admittance is not enough for any DA in this country to even attempt to try me let alone hope for a conviction). I have been shot at - by Vice Lords - and not only do I frequently hear gun shots but I've literally almost driven into gun fire.

To me... you miscalculate the *facts* running on many American streets. I have no beef with police and in fact though many in my neighborhood might talk bad on them I for one am *happy they are around.* If the police did not exist things would be crazy and Social Darwanism would rule completely with no mercy. But I have to be honest and reasonable and acknowledge that 9 times out of 10 the police show up to tape off an area - rather than having *prevented* a homicide or attempted homicide.

So, perhaps one's environment also determines what is "reasonable" and what is not? I'm not saying that sarcastically or in a such way or tone to be a prick. I'm just offering it as a rhetorical question meant to reflect on how life and safety might actually be. I mean, from my understanding, Manchester, England has a rough and tumble fighting culture on the streets where the idea of "avoiding fights" might be laughable in the grand scheme of things. Glasgow, Scotland from my understanding is suppose to be a tough, ruthless, knife fighting culture where wearing certain soccer team shirts in certain areas might get you killed or even beheaded.

So, when in Rome do as the Romans. I'll worry about a Yale school lawyer and some shyster a** judge later.

That said, I agree with you about the steel toe boots though. I would hate to get kicked in the teeth by someone wearing them. Talk about ouch!

I got a question for you guys concerning 'legal' weapons. You see I live in New York City and the weapon laws are EXTREMELY strict over here. I believe the minimum years you can be sentenced to jail for carrying around a gun is 3 years and I am not too sure about knives but I know they are illegal here as well.

Is there any way to find out about weapon laws in local areas? It might sound stupid but I was thinking about just carrying around something as simple as a pen as a weapon to stab someone with in case I get into a fight with a few people. As a college student I could simply say its for school or that I always carry one around in my pocket. But I am pretty certain that injuring someone with something as simple as keys or anything sharp thats legal can get you in serious trouble as well.

Does anyone know the circumstances where using a legal weapon is justified? I believe I have read somewhere that you can only inflict as much damage as the attacker does to you. Is this really true?

The reason I am asking this is because I recently got into a street fight with 3 people and it all started because they were making racial insults toward me and when I had comforted them about it, the situation escalated to a fight. Luckily it was broken up quickly and no one really got hurt. But in a situation like that could u have just pulled out something like a pen and use it as a weapon?
