I have a question about your knife.

What led you to post this whole knife/tests, etc.. the whole idea... on the dogbrothers forum, a stickfighting forum.

I wondered this when I read it there.

Actually, Marc Denny posted the details from a message I sent to him. The Dog brothers do a lot more than stickfighting. In fact, Marc has just put together a really comprehensive knife-gun-empty hand integration program with Gabe Suarez. In talking with him about it and watching some sneak previews, it's terriffic stuff! Marc Denny and I attended the same Tuesday and Thursday night classes at the Inosanto Academy, and he was helping me with the project on several fronts. He knows a lot of people in the weapons building industry, and he offered to help with the project, so it was on his site as well.

Gabe? I know Marc hangs over on Gabes forum, but whoa....I'm a fairly opinionated dude and all but Gabe? You are aware of Gabes background? The jail time thing...bad cops arent my favorite people...Swat magazine slaughtered him after reviewing his classes....police depts have said they were overcharged and under trained....he isnt in anyway shape a form a reputable source for anything and that christian facade is sickening....hope your knife and the h2h thingy workout, but Gabe is a verified bad cop who did time...and his tactics get a resounding thumbs down from the pros....but he has a nice website

I find there are too many good people out there who havent been a bad cop who deserve my money...anything putting money in Gabes pocket wont get my money...its ashamed because I would have bought the DVD.

Okay, the time has come to reveal a new project in the works. Some of the people here (and lots of people elsewhere) are already aware of the details, but there's a new knife in the works that should become one of the premier hard-use blades on Earth. It is being built to exacting standards, based on input from hundreds of soldiers returning from (and going back to) Iraq and Afghanistan. The demands placed on this blade are going to be awesome, and when it hits the market, it will have been tested to such extremes that I don't think there will be another knife anywhere that can match it. here's some of the testing standards:

• We're going to start by duplicating the "ammo can" test, but in grand scale. Instead of cutting an ammo can in half, I'm going to try to cut a mobile home (trailer) in half. Wood, steel, studs, cables, wiring - all of it.
• Then, we're going to butcher at least one full cow and one large pig. More if the source can spare them.
• Next, we're going to pry open a standard exterior security door by slamming the knife in between the door and the jamb and using it like a hooligan tool.
• Next - Helmets and coconuts. We fill the coconuts with ballistics gelatin and encase them in steel pot helmets. Five consecutive coconut penetrations through the steel helmet will be deemed successful.
• Next, we're going to remove a door from an up-armored Humvee using a special tool designed for that purpose and integrated into the scabbard.
• After that, we'll go out in the woods and dig a squad-worth of hasty fighting positions with the knife.
• Finally, we'll clear an area suitable for a helicopter landing zone with it.

Those of you who know me know I've always been a fan of realistic and practical testing. From the input we got from all the soldiers who are planning to use this knife, these are some of the kind of tasks they want to see their equipment accomplish. Hopefully, no one ever has a need to cut their way out of an aircraft, but with this knife, they can. Hopefully they have something besides a knife to clear an LZ or dig a foxhole, but if they don't, we'll have proven that this one will do it. We feel that these tests are a little more applicable than cutting rope or stabbing two by fours. The Army will be following the development of the knife and doing periodic stories on it, documenting the testing process. Our goal is to make these things available to soldiers for around $300 apiece, and to civilians for around $400. Size-wise, it'll be around the same length as the current issue bayonet (just about everyone agrees that's a good size), but the design will be dramatically different from anything on the market right now. The tip design will be stronger for stabbing than anything else out there (including tanto points), and the grip design will insure that even tired hands covered in oil or blood will be able to hold on during tough work. It will certainly be a capable weapon, but first and foremost, it will bea tool worthy of our nation's finest warriors. I'll post periodic pictures and/or video of the knife and the tests as we progress. Take care all, and as always, feedback is welcome and appreciated!

!54cm steel titanium liner lock and Black G-10 handles. If it ever stops raining out here and I get some sunlight I will post pics.

There will be an exposed steel butt that can be used for all sorts of impact applications, but the knife is primarily that - a knife. The maker has received drawings and specs, and prototypes will be underway by next week!

You mean Randall knives? Or does that refer to Jeff Randal's knives? If you meant Randall what model, and why did you choose it? What makes it the best knife? Is it a new Randall? What handle materials and whose sheath is it in? Those are the common Randall questions dude, every Randall owner has a story, whats yours?

KOTF, that is a great looking knife you picked up. I was eyeing one for awhile, but with my limited resources, I think I'm going after one of the new Kershaw Zero Tolerance knives. They look great, and with Ken Onion and Mick Strider involved it's got to be a good knife. Plus the ZT0400 has a nightmare grind
