Nope you're training for one lone guy the same size and weight as you who is unarmed and UNTRAINED, because thats EXACTLY what your training prepares you for.
BTW the Gracie Combatives combatives course even stresses the GJJ is about defending yourself from untrained attackers...and if you're bright enough to understand their disclaimer, it tells you learning GJJ actually decreases your chances of beating the untrained guy too.

You have been in altercations in the street or whatever, right?
You could say that.
I moved away from Vancouver, Wa. back in '86 due to it's proximity to Portland, Or.
The statute of limitations has expired there...

Arguing with LEO's and soldiers who have the experience in the field is your right because you are a MMA fan eh? Well...do you watch ER? Maybe the Doctors at the local hospital need some advice from you too. Maybe if you watch cop shows you could offer legal opinions too!! Geesh there are tons of forums for you to rush off and offer advice on!!Last edited by TTEscrima; 09-08-2009, 01:24 AM.

Well, I know you don't want to talk about your experiences so I'll leave it at that. But I must note that all of the folks screaming "This is REAL SD!" and the like are unwilling or unable to offer ANY actual experiences wherein their pet 'systems' they demand the world worship have been used by them effectively, or at all. All actual experiences that do not fit the demands of a given dogma are dismissed but NO OTHER EXAMPLES ARE FORTHCOMING. I would be glad to hear of such experiences, and they would not shatter my worldview as opposing views seem to threaten the worldview of certain insecure, ponytailed emo-cases.

But that's not to say BJJ doesn't contribute anything to fighting and there is nothing wrong with good hard physical training....it's essential! Like everything there are limitations. I like what I've trained in, but it's not perfect and I push myself to develop/enhance new skills and constantly maintain physical conditioning.
The absolute best skill that I have learnt though is de-escalation. The best fight is the one that never happened. Your ego can be your biggest downfall.
In saying all that however, I'm enjoying the pissing contest on this thread!

Remember, we are carrying OC spray, asps, side handle batons, tasers, glocks. I have to think of weapon retention. Getting too close to an offender and rolling on the ground with him gives him access to my weapons. Or gives his mate a chance to grab them, or club me, or stab me.

Have you ever considered the fact that maybe people don't want to have to rehash an experience like that in their own mind again.
Maybe people don't enjoy going over how they f*cked another human being up.
Maybe you have no idea what you are talking about or asking for because your a little house sitting, ring riding, nut hugging f8cktard and you've never had to actually really honest to god hurt another human before.
I think this is closer to the truth than the shit you and SepticLou are spouting.
