That's proposterous. One of my ex-girlfriends used to be a kyokushin and muso-kai practitioner, and her whole dojo would wail on her despite the fact that she was a girl, even to the point of having her shoulder dislocated.
Whenever I train with girls, I treat them no differently than anyone else...okay...that's a lie. I always focus on the opponent's chest and hip area to tell where a strike is coming from, with a female opponent I usually suspect that they'd get a bad impression from this. Grappling is also a little akward, but, hey...if I'm going to feel comfortable getting that close to a guys ass going into a shoot or a takedown...also feels awkward, but there's less of a chance of the guy getting a wrong impression.
I will trade blows with a girl in sparring, but I won't try and actually fight them, just like anyone else I'm sparring...they'll get hit, but I'm not out for blood.
Grappling's a little different, when you grab a girl you barely know, or even one you know a little from training...it just seems out of place, you never know when you might do something, accidentily touch or throughout going through the motions of a drill, that would offend or come across the wrong way. i.e. go in for a shoot and have them think your a grab ass or economizing on the drill to grope, or if you accidentily brush a breast...I just try and stay extra careful and show a little more restraint.
Also, what type of guy would I be if I placed a choke or a joint lock on a girl with the speed and strength I'd do with a guy?...outside of striking, I think it's necessary to show a little more caution when working with most girls, then you would a typical guy.
Now if a girl is a bit more muscular and has good intensity, so long as I don't come across as a grab ass I'll train all out. Just like if they bring in a smaller guy, or someone who looks like they're just going through the motions, I won't give the scenario as much as I can.

This is silly. If you're sparring with a girl, you can bet that she's prepared for anything and isn't concerned about whether or not you're focusing on her chest and hips or whether you've touched her innapropriately while grappling- she's there to spar just like any male opponent.
I've never been concerned about someone touching the "wrong area" while I was grappling or sparring with him...the closest I've come to that concern is worrying a little about smashing some guys nuts by accident. And I've had my tits smashed countless times and my um...parts touched... it's just not something you care about in a sparring situation... you care about sparring and that's it.

yeah, I know it's silly. I probably should have mentioned it's also VERY awkward grappling with a dude. Something about the "mount" and "guard" positions just seem...well...too homoerotic for my particular tastes. (I might be a much better grappler if I was half drunk) This is probably why I've only competed in stand-up fights. The thought of laying on my back, holding somebodies sweaty, fatigued body while both of us are trying to grope for positions is just...well...a little gross.
Grappling with a girl is not much different. I just put myself in their position, thinking, damn, would I want some dude (or even some chick that I don't know very well or is well...a bus driver*, if you get my drift.) all over me trying to pin me or get a submission, which makes me try to do things...well...as kosher and carefully as possible.

*a term me and a friend coined to define a fat, fugly, sweaty mess of a chick that trolls around trying to pillage and defile the sacredness of my man booty.
In other words, my past three girlfriends, and my inspiration for the current state or relative sobriety in which I've been living.

This is not saying I am the male equivant of a "bus-driver", simply that I want to be careful with the women I train with, especially because the majority are hella attractive, and I basicly just look like a goofy ass kid...which could easily lead them to believe I could perhaps during training try and cop a feel...which, of course, I would never do, not out of an outdated and archaeic sense of morality, but simply out of common decency and respect.
Not very many women are involved in the martial arts, and I believe part of the reason could be because of the fear that some leacherous, swarthy greaseball might try to pull a quick one on them...I try to treat all of my sparring partners with the same level of caution, and consiencious hand placement, girls more so, because they simply have more possible erogenous or off limits areas.

i.e. I stay away from their hair when prummbing, because if I screw it up, they could get hella pissed, or if they have longer hair, some might get caught in my handwraps, I stay away from the breasts, because their more sensitive and because it's polite to avoid them as much as possible, and I avoid to the greatest extent possible the touching of anyone's ass outside of a highly inebriated, well saturated party atmosphere, or unless I have that particular level of a repore with that person, i.e. a lifelong friend who won't feel alienated or upset by a little ass grab or pat. (I don't play that highschool locker room stuff, maybe if I'm drunk and joking around will I grab a guys ass.) In my particular circle of friends, I've learned some pretty valuable lessons, considering the fact that about a fifth of them are flambountly gay or living within the confines of a glass closet, that being groped by anyone you don't want to be groped by is no fun, whether it be at a foam party, a roll party, rave, a club, a gay bar, or at the gym.
Naturally in training, some accidental brush ups occur...but I try to minimize them to the best of my ability for both genders, and any possible gender-benders that I don't know about.

Yes, as ususual xbesball comes in and says stuff that no one can understand. Good luck getting some sense out of xbesball, from past experience I would say it is not possible.

Hey there. I have some comments that might help you. I (like your peers) am uncomfortable hitting women. However I also recognize that sparring is important to learning how to fight. So I addended my rule. I will not hit a girl until either she hits me at least once or she has attained a black belt. Then it's fair game. Next time a guy refuses to hit you punch him in the nose. Or you could do what I do when I am facing a nervous newbie who is afraid of the counter hit - with a slight tone of condescention remind your peer that he shouldn't be afraid to hit you. These may help. I personally prefer the "punch him in the nose approach".
