Have you heard bout what happened to Rihanna few weeks ago? Well, that's one reason why we really need to learn self-defense techniques and learn how to use some self-defense weapons as well, to keep ourselves safe from harm and violent world!

 Need for self defense

Self defense is indeed a major area of concern today. I believe its never too late to familiarize yourself with the latest techniques and equipments. There are numerous resources out there I found defendingusa.com particularly useful.

There we agree, and I have been saying this all along. But many attack me for such thinking.Originally posted by cqdtonline View Post... I do not agree with women using MMA grappling (as opposed to reality-based systems) if their goal is to be proficient on the street. I like MMA as a sport and as an athletic training tool, but not as opposed to a reality-based self defense system in preparing women for street scenarios.
-Im sure most will agree given all the references to "striking vitals" which of course is illegal in MMA.

Yes, my wife is a real bad ass. She's only 5' 6" and about 42kg, I don't know how many pounds that is, but she's not really heavy. A part of it has to do with attitude, and when it's on, she goes from sweet to kill. And she's not afraid of anybody.

Just entering this discussion, Hi. Sounds like Ben Grimm has a bad-ass wife and TC has a bit of a pride issue heh. BTW Mr. Grimm, good reference to close quarter control to aid in striking vitals along center line.

To comment on the title of this forum: Good reality-based self defense is important for women (and men) in general. I do not agree with women using MMA grappling (as opposed to reality-based systems) if their goal is to be proficient on the street. I like MMA as a sport and as an athletic training tool, but not as opposed to a reality-based self defense system in preparing women for street scenarios.

TC, a simple one. Do you know what would happen if you took an elbow to the temple? At full force mind you, not just a play tap? Or a simple full powered punch to the throat after the head has been controlled? Or having something sharp stabbed into an eye? OH WAIT! You don't believe in controlling the head, my bad!

Guest repliedAbsolutely wrong. I teach techniques that are very realistic and very effective and I most likely teach almost every technique you could do or teach as well. Show me some of the techniques that she would do with clips or video. or if you are afraid to do that, then describe them for me. So far i think you may have only mentioned her using her knee to the groin area. I teach thta as well as many other techniques.Originally posted by Ben Grimm View PostOne of those will do. TC, what I mean by attack the vitals is in a different way than you think. Her intent is different as well. Her intent isn't to get away, but to destroy the person/people in front of her. And she attacks the vitals using techniques that are much more realistic than what you teach. Guest repliedAbsolutely wrong. By the way I only showed a few grappling escapes, you have no idea of what I teach in the area of vital strikes. So what are you talking about? You are just making things up again.

Come on show me your clips or describe your techniques. You shouldn't speak so quickly when you have no idea at all what other techniques I teach. You just expose and trap yourself.
