Oso, you are truly my hero in this thread. You've contributed some real gold! Thanks for that. I tried to pos rep you for it, but I have to "spread some around" first.
Thanks to you, too Uke. I liked the Protector as well, but I'd still like to hear from anyone that saw Fearless. I'm itching to see a good "chop sockey" flick, and I like Jet Li's stuff a lot. Still, I don't want to spend $14.95 on a stinker. So anyone who's seen it, please speak up and give us a review!
You've seen the Protector? Do a review of that! My niece has seen both, and she says that the Protector lacks any real story, but the action is the best she's ever seen and she's seen a lot. She said Fearless had great action too, but the story was much better. She says neck and neck but The Protector edges out in terms of action.
I agree. Osopardo has definitely given this topic a spin with his selections.

and the final scene in The One where he plays a hard-core king of the hill game with his fellow inmates is tight. "I am nobody's bitch, I am the ONE!" lol...best line of dialogue EVER!
The Matrix had some good fight scenes...so did Blade I and II (the third one was a waste.)
(notice the blend of boxing, kali/silat, and shotokan...nice!)
The last scene of 28 days later is hard-core...the guy flips out and takes out a squad of SAS officers with his hands and teeth...and his girl thinks he's a zombie. Great scene! Flip to the end and see the soon gaab's (or bill jee's (thumbs are fingers)...or thumb thrusts, whatever the hell you want to call them)
Fight Club had some bomb scenes...and that's what I want, I want hard-core, gritty fights in movies...jet li's flying shit and tony jaa's wall walking is fun to watch...but I'm ALL about the grit.
No Mike, I haven't had a chance to see "The Protector" yet. But I've heard great things about the action. Not so much about the story.
Garland, I just watched "Ichi the Killer" and that was a twisted, stupid movie from what I saw. I guess there is a bit of dark humor in it, but the movie itself wasn't entertaining to me. I hope the other one's you've listed are better than this one.
I know "The Killer" is a great movie because I've seen it years ago. I'll check them out as I can catch them.
i was just watching the miami vice movie, and i notice jamie fox uses a jiu jitsu wrist lock to crush someones wrist right in the very beginning of the movie and then fallows that up with a throw.
The movie 300 will be released soon, and it is destined to be one of the very best fighting movies of all time. For those who aren't aware of the backstory, it is based on the book Gates of Fire, which tells the story of King Leonidas and his 300 warriors battling against the Persians. Jeff Imada worked on the choreography, as well as several others from the Inosanto Academy, so the fighting will not only be spectacular, but should even be pretty recognizable to many of you. My favorite quote from the trailer so far is:
Persian: "Our arrows will blot out the sun!"
Spartan: "Then we will fight in the shade."
This one is, I think, the "must see" movie of the year for me.
Actually, the movie is based on a graphic novel by the guy who did Sin City...and the movie is done in the same style as that movie. The book Gates of Fire is about the same incident- the Spartan battle at Thermopylae. Jeff Imada?! As in Balisong Manual, Inosanto Academy Jeff Imada? Ok...I was stoked to see it before, but now I may be camping out in line to see this!
Anyone who has seen Fearless will appreciate this.
This movie, "Fist of Legend", is the sequel to "Fearless". In this movie, Jet Li plays the senior student of Huo Yuanjia, the man Li portrays in Fearless. He returns to find out who killed his master and seek to restore honor to his name and school. Fist of Legend is the remake of Fist of Fury aka Chinese Connection.
I don't want to write too much as it may spoil the movie for those who may wish to see it. But this is the scene where Chen Zhen(Li) goes to the Japanese Dojo to challenge the man who supposedly defeated his master.
Didn't we see Bruce Lee do the first half of that fight scene in Fist of Fury?
Pretty much. I just thought that it was worth the mention here because Jet Li not only played the Master in Fearless, but also the avenging student in Fist of Legend.
This is the scene from the Bourne Identity. Great scene and great weapon work with good tempo. The music is not from the movie. The poster must have put this soundtrack on there.
