Still workin' on it, yo. No problem with time for training then...cause I'll be full time Wu-Tang style!

Well, I work a different job on the weekends that challenges my sleep schedule during the rest of the week...alot of the other guys complain about it, but I don't mind (so long as others understand that my sleep patterns will be off).

Go out and have dinner with my wife and some friends (my instructor and his wife, coincidentally) tonight or tommorrow night. My dad signed us both up for a 5K race tommorrow morning. I haven't been able to keep up with my running as much lately as I'd like and I need to catch up on some sleep (why are races always so friggin' early?), but the District Attorney and a couple of assistant DA's are running it so I feel compelled to go and beat them.

Other than that, try to have a good heavy lifting session and a good gut-busting bag session on Saturday or Sunday afternoon, make up a little for not having time to lift this week. This whole "having a job" thing is really getting in the way of training.

Wrasslers probably have the best of both worlds and have been training that way long before MMA became popular.

Well, I hate to disappoint but I don't think what I do today is all that amazing or insightful. I usually put in 2-3 miles of road work a day nowadays. Just your basic running. Try to hit the weights 5 days a week, alternating major muscle groups. The usual stuff. Wrestle or go jump in with friends at some other gym, dojo, dojang, etc. at least 5 days a week. More if I'm feeling ambitious, less if, like last week, I have to have some horrible test done. Oh, and I horse around in the park with my big 'ol dog, if that counts.

When I was really training hard for competition (I mean REALLY training hard) I'd put in some sick hours. Back in the salad days it was a minimum of 5 miles a day for distance, plus interval sprints, jumps, rope-work, 3 hours of practice a day, an hour or so of extra work with teammates, stairs, lifting (a little more for reps than weight back then except for during the off-season) everyday but the 2 days before comp, and the inevitable and hateful hours in the sauna. This was all while going to school full time and pulling two or three part-time jobs. It was stupid, but I was too young to know better.

Now, I'm just slowly breaking down but still doing what I enjoy.

    LOL!

Mike, I can take a pretty good joke too - how else do I keep moving forward in the morning after looking at my face in the mirror

I've plowed through a 6-hr workout, then put out for an additional 45-minute workout with the lady....

...she kicked my ass on the tennis courts

Friday starts early for me this week because of Columbus Day Celebrations. Friday night, dinner and romance with the wife, saturday teaching 2 private lessons, Sunday teaching two more private lessons and being the perpetual Student, I will be training with some training knives and sticks. Chores Chores Chores. Monday, still off from work but grass to cut and car to wash.

    What's on tap with you?

Friday a friend and I ordered deep dish pizza with pineapple and just hung out and talked shop. Yesterday I watched football, ate brats, drank beer, etc. It was fun. Today is going to be a ton of work all day and all night.
