I failed to mention the balance... Perfect. The more I play with it the more I like it.

And the faster and smoother I can transition from grip to grip, hand to hand and hit with either the point or pommel.

In the words of the man that made it for me..."The buttcap is designed to work as a bone hammer - It's NOT gonna BRAEK."

The taper to the handle makes for an exceptionally sure handset and strong grip.

I can flip it with my eyes closed! LOL

Really...this would be a crappy gift for a balisong fan if you didn't explain to them what was different before they started manipulating it.

On the topic of new knives...I feel completely in the dark as to how best to keep an edge on my older ones...I have some kitchen supply sharpeners...but I want to show a little more care and love with my investments...

I actually have a few questions, and I figured it would be best to ask the experts...
              1) any hints as to what to look for in a whetstone, any preferred types?
              2) any preferred brand of razor strops?
              3) what is the best way to keep an edge on a curved knife like a Harpy or a Karambit?
              4) for high quality knives, do I need to invest in any type of clove oil or other lubricants/protectant type veneers or polishes to use in conjunction with sharpening...and how do I go about using them?
              5) for different types of steel are there different sharpening tools that work better?

Essentially...I was robbed of the whole outdoors, hunting, shooting, etc. stuff as a kid, and I had nobody to teach me these things...

I don't have time this morning to type a reply but I'm glad you asked and I'll take a stab at some worthy answers when I get back.

Oh wait... you said "experts"... nevermind.

Consider me a self taught novice.\

Benchmade has a multi stone sharpening device, I forget the name but it should be easy to find.

For curved knives your gonna have to use a set of old school whetstones, lots of care and lots of patients.

As for lubricants, go with the Toughcloth brand for regular cleanings and use Breakfree (find it with gun cleaning supplies at walmart) to get off rust or just to shine em up all pretty like.

                      This is a decent tutorial...

Doesn't say much about hollow ground knives but it's a good one.

Impressive, but I gotta think using your hands would be a lot easier.
