  • Okay, maybe a little more than five hours--but I definitely take time for recovery and the exercises are varied... Did you stretch out before running? It's better to do static stretches after running.

    • Yes i stretch often now, and im slowly dicovering the wonderful benefits of flexibility. But i definetly went over board on stretching my calves, which arent flexible to begin with. So the combination of running, lifting, wrestling, and more stretching, tore my left calf muscle just a bit. Its healing now though.

      • what I'm in the mood for....

        Run windsprints, a cup of milk on one end, a cup of beer on the other end. Repeat ad nasuem. Then proceed by bashing head repeatedly into goal posts, sans helmet.

        followed by club weight workouts on a fancy car.

          • Sounds like fun Garland.

            Today--15 assisted muscleups (60# assist), 10 overhead squats: 25-30-35-40-45-50-55-55-picked up 55 and put it down-picked up 50 and put it down-40-40, 15 more assisted muscle-ups.

            Under 45 minutes, don't know the exact time though.

              I've gotten to where I like to warm-up, stretch, workout and stretch again at the end. Ideally anyway, I don't always get it done.

              On the other subject, six or eight hours a week doesn't sound like too much for someone in reasonable shape. It varies from person to person anyway what your body can take - I've heard that Tyson used to train eight hours a day almost every day (when he was with Cus).



              Pull-ups/dips 10/10,9/9,8/8, etc. followed by twenty minutes rolling. I meant to start working on L-ups but ran out of time.


              Interestingly, I found out that I can do a couple L-ups in a row and they might be easier than static L-sits on the dip bars (which I've been using for that purpose).

              • I Learned today that my gym owner has some rings in a box on her garage! Maybe I'll get a video camera and post my first muscle-up here someday. That should be entertaining.

                • I just read some articles that said static stretching before working out can cause injury, I can look for them if you're interested.

                  I'm pretty sure I'm not overtraining because I'm only a little sore the next day.

                  Rings, eh?? I'm jealous.

                      I swam 1200 meters the other day; it was broken up into intervals.

                      Today I'm going to cycle about 15 miles.

                      • leg press 850lbs 3 sets 12 reps...I know I can do more. The fucking safety mechanism on this particular machine is a little tricky...so, I'm sorta scared about not having at least 2 good spotters in case they need to pull the rack off of my crushed body.

                              • apparently some people say it's not uncommon for people to leg press 3000lbs...is this true? I know there is no fucking way I've even seen a sled that can hold that much weight...even if it was all 100lb plates (that's 30 plates).

                                I'm going to guess that my max might be a little over 1200 lbs (yes, full range of motion, not just a couple inches). but I wouldn't want to try it on the machine I'm using...they switched machines at my college gym, and the new ones BLOW. The new leg sled is spooky...it's safety is sketch, you have to twist it out of the way and then lock it down to stop it...like changing gears in a stick shift...I usually have to fiddle with it for about 10 second with my legs extended to even get the thing to stay put. I don't want to die.

                                The old machine was better, all I had to do was push the lever over and, DONE!

                                I think I could really push myself on a machine like this...because I wouldn't have to worry too much about injurying myself;
